Although staph can live on surfaces for days to weeks, it doesn’t mean that it will make a person sick. Staph has to get off the surface and onto someone’s skin, where the organism may or may not survive due to the presence of competing organisms. A solid wood floor is made from one piece of solid wood, this is a living product as is liable to move by expanding and contracting. An engineered board is a manufactured board made from two or three layers cross bonded at 90 degrees to each other, so are guaranteed to be stable with no movement likely to happen between the joints etc. A wood veneer is a thinner board usually about 7mm and again three layers cross-bonded to each other, but the veneer is only 0.4mm thick.

If you have air vents in your floor, simply pull out one of the registers and look at the flooring. You should have a floor on top of a subfloor. If the floor on top is one solid piece almost an inch thick, then you have solid hardwood. If, however, the top floor looks like thin layers pressed together or just a thin board by itself, then you have either a laminate or engineered floor. If your air vents are located in the ceiling, you may not be able to tell.

Laminate flooring is a HDF board with a photographic image laminated to the surface. Our flooring is fitted using a click system so no gluing or nailing is required. Real wood (or 'Engineered Flooring') is made up of three layers. A top layer of around 3-4mm of real wood placed on a cross-ply middle layer with a hardwood base. The planks are glued as a 'floating floor' and laid on an underlay.

It is quite difficult to answer this question in an objective manner. The first challenge is bringing the film image to the PC so that the both digital and film images can be compared side by side. this introduces several variables: The choice of scanning hardware, and the parameters of the scanning software. The next challenge is that digital and film images fall apart in different ways at the limits.

SpinRite and ScanDisk are entirely different types of products. ScanDisk replaces the original DOS CHKDSK command, which verified the logical file system structure of the hard drive (the newer CHKDSK command no longer performs that function).
