Each part of the whole body contains information on all parts of the body. This is true for all forms of life, at the level of genetic encoding for metabolic processes, cellular respiration, and tissue generation. For example cutting off some trimmings from a Geranium bush and sticking the branches into the ground triggers a differentiation process, changing the cut end into a root system and produces a new Geranium bushes.

The fountain has always been fed by gravity from the time that Mr. Letchworth had it installed. The difference now is that the pond he had created was abandoned because it often went dry. The source now is the Trout Pond that is also the source of water to the hydrants in that are for fire protection. So gravity still prevails - just from a different pond. The fountain was probably part of the landscaping design by William Webster (see our "Ornamental Farm" page.

The iris illustrates the whole person, including the whole body and the whole mind. Individual traits are identified at two levels, static and dynamic. The static traits are the constitutional qualities as shown by the overall structure and color of the iris, and the dynamic traits are indicated by small changes in the iris during the person's life. More advanced methods can be applied for identifying the past chronology of accumulated iris markings.

The system has both advantages and disadvantages to electronic fingerprint systems, such as Live Scan. Here are some of the advantages: the iris biometric is about 12 times more unique --- from a science and statistical perspective -- than fingerprint biometrics. There is no need to touch anything (as with fingerprint) to capture the biometric data. A participant simply looks at a digital camera from about 10" to 15" inches and it takes a digital photo of their iris.

Outdoor cameras or cameras indoors facing a window or an outside door will have varying light conditions. CCTV display and recording systems are set to a certain level of image brightness and contrast. When light levels change in the images produced by the cameras, the displayed and recorded images will either be too bright and washed out or too dark and non-resolvable. The only way to solve this is to use an auto-iris lens.

When the effects of androgens in the body are lessened, e.g. through lowering DHT or by blockading hormone receptors systemically, the body seeks equilibrium through a process called upregulation. This can take the form of increased hormone production and/or increased tissue sensitivity to the remaining hormones. The reason side effects usually gradually disappear with Finasteride is probably due to such upregulation.

The startle reflex is a characteristic spike in the galvanicskin response that usually occurs 1-3 seconds after the onset of a startleprobe or a novel stimulus. Typically, a startle probe refers to a loudnoise, bright light, or puff of air designed to "startle" or suddenly divert the attention of the subject. A similar spike in conductivity can be generated when a subject "orients" to a new stimulus -- a person suddenly standing next to you, for example.

Iris need to be thinned or divided before they become overcrowded, generally every 3-4 years. If iris are allowed to become too crowded the bloom will suffer, some varieties may crowd others out and disease problems may be aggravated. Old clumps may be thinned by removing the old divisions at the centers of the clumps and leaving new growth in the ground. Or, you may dig up the entire clump and remove and replant the large new rhizomes.

The iris was installed in the first episode ("Children of the Gods") as a protection against unwanted arrivals. Iris recognition biometric technology positively determines the identity of an individual by capturing a high resolution digital photograph of the individual's iris. The technology is based on the most mathematically unique biometric -- even between twins or an individual's right and left eyes -- the iris of the eye. The technology is non-intrusive - the individual does not need to touch anything to use the system.

Iris recognition is proven to have the highest biometric accuracy, with no false matches in over two million cross-comparisons, according to Biometric Product Testing Final Report March 2001, Center for Mathematics and Scientific Computing, National Physics Laboratory, U.K.). The human iris is absolutely unique, even between twins or an individual's right and left eyes. The iris itself is stable throughout a person's life (approximately from the age of one).

These are rare tumors. They can be either primary tumors of the iris (e.g. malignant melanoma) or spread from another tumor (e.g. breast, lung). Treatment of these tumors depends on whether the tumor is growing and also whether there is any complication from the tumor (e.g. uncontrolled glaucoma). In the case of glaucoma that does not get better with medication, or if the tumor is growing quickly, it may be necessary to remove the entire eye.
