The GRE test date must be no more than 5 years old at the time of application, or ETS will not release them. The TOEFL/IELTS test date/s must be no more than 2 years old at the time of application.

ETS will not report scores that are more than five years old, and the Graduate School does prefer that applicants submit scores no older than five years. However, domestic applicants who have taken the GRE and whose scores are more than five years old may submit photocopies of old scores and a letter requesting a waiver, along with their other application materials.

GRE scores are valid for 5 years. If your score is less than 5 years old, please contact ETS and have them send it to us. If it is more than 5 years old, you will need to retake the test. Both of these questions have the same answer. We can tell prospective students whether or not their scores have arrived, and that is the only information we can release. In order to protect your privacy, we cannot divulge test scores over the phone because we cannot verify the identity of the caller.

Consistent with the policy of the Educational Testing Service, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores taken more than 5 years prior to the date of application to the School of Education will not be accepted.

The TOEFL exam must be taken within two (2) years of your application to CDO. If you took the TOEFL prior to that time, you will need to retake the exam. CDO requires applicants to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test. The fee for the GRE ranges approximately $115 to $175 U.S. The General Test is offered only on the computer in the U.S. and in most locations around the world.

Because it takes up to 6 weeks for the department to receive GRE scores from the testing centers, you should FAX a copy of your test results to the department as soon as you receive them. (Please note that many times we do not receive the testing center copies. Therefore, all applicants are required to send copies of their scores to the department.) The GRE exam can be taken any time by computer testing.

The GRE must be taken by all interested applicants. For international or permanent resident students, the TOEFL exam is required unless you have an undergraduate degree from a U.S. institution.

It is recommended that you take the GRE no later than the October exam, possibly even November. Scores will be sent to the Graduate School two to three weeks after you take the exam. You may self-report scores to us via e-mail as soon as they are available to you (psygrad@u.washington.edu), or fax them to us at (206) 685-3157. If you must take the exam in December, scores received after January 1 run the risk of missing important selections committee review meetings.

For good candidates who scored a minimum of 6.0 overall in the IELTS test, we may make you a conditional offer upon successful completion of both the Pre-sessional English language course and the Pre-MBA course. For candidates who scored a minimum of 6.5 overall in the IELTS test, we may make a conditional offer subject to successful completion of the Pre-MBA course. The Pre-sessional course is usually held in July/August and the Pre-MBA course in August/September.

The GRE is not required at this time. The TOEFL exam is required of all foreign graduates and the minimum acceptable score is 300. These results should be forwarded to CASPA during the application process. The WCMC institution code is 2250. NOTE: The WCMC PA Program's code is only a four digit code, which is different from the Weill Cornell Medical College code.

If you are getting close to the application deadline, you may fax, phone or e-mail your scores as soon as you get the results, though you must also arrange to have the testing organization send the official results as soon as possible.

If the rest of your application is complete, you should submit it even if you have not taken the appropriate tests. But you must indicate on your application when you plan to take them. Although a final decision on your application cannot be made in the absence of your test scores, we can begin the application process. You may phone, fax or e-mail your scores as soon as you know your results, but the testing organization must send the official results as soon as possible.

These tests do help but are not mandatory as far as the admission into a university or college is concerned. However, the students, whose academic records are not good, they may take these tests to support their claim for admission.
