We advise that you contact your lab to confirm their output preferences or refer to your ink-jet manual.

We will print with whatever dpi is approved on your files. We recommend that you submit black and white bitmap images scanned at least at 600 dpi, grayscale images at 300 dpi, and full-color photos at 300 dpi for the best possible quality. We output to our digital copier/printers at 600 dpi. If your files were submitted at a different dpi than what we recommend and that resolution has been approved, that is what will print.Back to Top

We recommend a 'Bright White' inkjet paper (this type of paper works in laser printers and photocopies too.). The templates generally look best when printed on paper that has a brightness of 90+ and a weight of 24 lb (90 gsm). For the covers, try a good quality varnished or coated (shiny) card stock of 100lb (270 gsm) weight or higher. You should certainly use coated (or otherwise hi-res) card stock.

More often than not, customers asking this don't realize how many details in a photo will either be lost or result in parts too small to handle. Photos with high Dots Per Inch (DPI) are more likely to have this problem than lower resolution photos. Web quality 72 DPI produce vary acceptable results. As DPI goes above 100 the quality of the result does not usually improve much.

Always start with a clean car. Paint will not stick to dirt or wax. If you are washing your car yourself, use a natural sponge or chamois for best results. Make sure the car is dry. Wipe the area you are going to touch up with a cotton swab dampened with alcohol.

DPI isn't as important as you might think. It's the effect DPI has on part size that you need to understand. If you provide a 50 DPI drawing then each dot represents .020 inches (our minimum). Higher resolutions produce higher quality output such as smoother curves up to a point (about 200 DPI). At 400 DPI, any part less than 8 dots wide in any direction will be too small or fragile to handle.

The resolution of printed text and images is measured in dots per inch, or DPI. The print resolution for a piece can range from 300 DPI to 1200 DPI, and sometimes more, depending on the level of detail required.
