What is the CFM(Cubic Feet per Minute)?
Frequently Asked Questions About SmartVentIt varies on wind speed but is equal or greater than the required exhaust vents on the market when used at the soffits. CFM is very hard to compare apples to apples because of all the different variables. Everything would need to be exactly the same for the tests: Outside and Inside Temp., Pressure, wind, same ridge vent, same shingles, same inside living space conditions, same sun rays, etc. etc. etc……..That is why we feel that the industry has chosen NFA to compare products.
When is BTU (British Thermal Unit) or CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute) rating important?
BTU rating is important if you are going to install a properly sized A/C unit to cool a certain well insulated area. CFM is important if you are going to install a properly sized large 110-volt Evaporative Cooler on the roof or in the side wall of a well insulated building so you can build up a negative pressure within a certain area so you can cool the entire area. Negative pressure cannot typically be built up in an area by using the limited resources of a 12-volt Portable Cooling Device. See similar questions...
How much carbon dioxide is produced from the combustion of 1000 cubic feet of natural gas?
Frequently Asked Global Change QuestionsIf we start with 1000 cubic feet of natural gas (and assuming it is pure methane or CH4) at STP (standard temperature and pressure, i.e., temperature of 273°K = 0°C = 32°F and pressure of 1 atm = 14.7 psia = 760 torr), and burn it completely, here's what we come up with: Since 1 mole of a gas occupies 22.4 L at STP, 28316.85 L of CH4 contains 28316.85/22.4 = 1264.145 moles of CH4 (each mole of CH4 = approx. 16 g) One mole of CO2 has a mass of approx. 44 g, so 1264. How much combustion air is required in cubic feet per hour??
Mart Tech Services - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)The amount of air required by the gas combustion burner on the Tornado 60 Washing machine. This machine was shipped with a 380,000 BTU/hour capable burner. The amount of air required to burn natural gas is a fixed amount. Adding in about 3% excess air for safe combustion the rule of thumb is that it takes 10 cubic feet of air for every cubic foot of gas. Unless you know the BTU/cubic foot of natural gas in your area another rule of thumb is to use 1000 BTU/cubic foot. See similar questions...

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about the metric systemThis water meter measures household water usage in cubic meters, with three decimal places plus a dial showing a fourth. There are 1000 liters in a cubic meter, so the seven-digit number is in liters. The liter was originally defined in 1795 as a volume equal to a cubic decimeter, just as it is now. But in 1901, the liter was redefined to be the volume occupied by a mass of 1 kilogram of pure water, at its maximum density and at standard atmospheric pressure. See similar questions...
