Can I send my own bottle for you to melt or make into a candle?

flat bottle plates wine bottle cheese boards melted wine bot...
Yes! The best course of action is to shoot us an e-mail and tell us about your bottle. We can best then let you know what the results will be. Not every bottle is conducive to every process. You may want it flattened but it may only be able to be made into a candle. Or... it may not be conducive to either process. Pitchers can only be made from silk-screened bottles.

When does the silver melt together?

Beadfx - Art Clay Silver - Frequently Asked Questions
The silver never actually "melts" -- unless you overheat it, of course. First, the binder burns off, and then the silver particles bond together in a process called "sintering." If the piece goes bright and shiny and shimmering, then you have overheated it and started it to melt. You don't want that. See similar questions...

Why does the pipe melt before the fitting?

Valsir - F.A.Q. HDPE
The melting temperature remains 210°C for both. Fittings are manufactured using a moulding technique (the material is pressed inside the mould), whereas the pipe is extruded (namely, the material is drawn), therefore the pipe reaches the melting temperature a few seconds before the fitting. How does a candle work?

Candles By Victoria ~ FAQ
Candles really are an amazing lighting system -- the fuel itself is the package. There are two parts that work together in a candle: The wick, made of some sort of absorbent twine The wick needs to be naturally absorbent, like a towel, or it needs to have a strong capillary action (as in glass fiber wicks used in oil lamps). If you buy a length of un-waxed wick at a craft store and play with it, you will find that it feels like soft string and absorbs water very well. See similar questions...

Why does the flame in my candle keep going out?

Personal Esscents - Frequently Asked Questions
Chances are, the wick has been cut too short. If a wick becomes too short to light, carve away enough wax around the wick(s) in order to re-light the wick(s). You may get a fairly large flame at first, but as the melt pool expands, the level of the melt pool will rise, creating a smaller flame. When you have achieved a full melt pool, you can extinguish the flame(s), let the wax cool, then trim again if necessary. See similar questions...

What does "hugging" a candle mean?

Personal Esscents - Frequently Asked Questions
The term "hugging a candle" simply refers to gently pressing the outer edge of your pillar or grubby candle inward after the candle has burned long enough for the outer edge to become pliable. When you do this, the inner edge of the candle should be close enough to the flame to melt into the melt pool. You will increase the burn time of your candle by doing this. See similar questions...

Why does my candle jar sometimes turn black at the top?

Candles By Victoria ~ FAQ
The black you see is carbon. An excessively large flame will produce carbon due to lack of sufficient oxygen from the air in the jar to provide complete combustion. The updraft of hot gases from combustion hinders diffusion of air into the jar and that starves the flame of oxygen. The key for that perfect burning candle is wick maintenance. The wick must be trimmed to no more than 1/4" throughout the candle life. The candle can be burned for several hours without trimming. See similar questions...

Why does my beeswax candle sometimes seem hard to light?

Why does water melt the Wicked Witch of the West?

Wizard of Oz - Frequently Asked Questions - Oz Characters
There is no explanation given in The Wizard of Oz as to why water dissolved and destroyed the Wicked Witch of the West. The only indication might be in an incident when Toto bites her: "The Witch did not bleed where she was bitten, for she was so wicked that the blood in her had dried up many years before." Many believe that she had extended her life through magical means for so long that there was actually very little of her left, and so the water was enough to finally break her down.
