Copies of divorces are obtained in the County Clerk’s Office in the county where the divorce was granted. Only the parties or their attorney may view the court file or obtain a copy of the divorce. The fee for a certified copy of the divorce is $8.00.

You may contact the Clerk of Courts Record Center in Room 1002 of the Dane County Courthouse or call (608) 266-4311 for information. Requests for copies may be made in person, by mail or by FAX. No telephone requests are taken. There is a charge of $1.25 per page for copies. The divorce certificate can be obtained from the State of Wisconsin Office of Vital Records, PO Box 309, 1 W. Wilson Street, Madison, WI 53701-0309 or by calling (608) 266-1371.

If the divorce was processed in Ashe County, you may obtain a copy from the Clerk of Court's Office on the third floor of the Courthouse or call 336.246.5641 for more information.

If you were divorced in Erie County you can get a copy in our office. The cost is 25 cents per page and $1.00 to certify the document. Have your Case number ready when requesting copies.

The BC Archives has some court records relating to divorce however if you are looking for a certified copy of your divorce order you should first contact the court registry in BC where the divorce took place. Addresses are at the following link: http://www.courts.gov.bc.ca/sc/registry. The court registry may be able to supply a certified copy of your divorce order, or a divorce certificate.

Vital Statistics does not record divorces. Contact the court house in the town or city where the divorce was granted. (See Alberta Courts.) Divorce Decrees are filed within this office. Bring with you your index number, date of the action, and title of the action. Please be advised, only the parties involved or the attorney of record can obtain these documents. The fee for a certified copy of these records is $5.00 minimum for the first 4 pages and $1.25 for each additional page. If you are unable to come to the Office of the County Clerk, please send us your request in writing with your signature notarized.

In Oregon, full divorce records must be obtained from the County Court that granted the divorce. In Clackamas County, copies are available in the Courthouse File Room, 807 Main St., Oregon City, OR 97045, Room 12. (503) 650-3036.* Divorce records older than 4 years should be requested 24 hours in advance of date needed to provide for retrieval from off-site storage. The Oregon Health Division, Center for Health Statistics (and Vital Records) can provide you with a summary of a divorce record.

The Superior Court Public Information Center has all divorce records for 1901 to 1992/3. Divorce records since 1992/3 are still filed with each county court. The Superior Court does have an index, which will provide the file number and citation to county court.

You (or your representative) can either come to the Clerk of Courts office or request a copy by mail. The cost is $.25 per page and $.1.00 to have the document certified. If you request a copy by mail, please include your case number (if you know it), the names of the parties, the year the divorce was filed and your return address. The average cost for the certified copy and postage is $5.00. If you include a check in that amount, we will bill you for any additional fee if the cost is more.

You may obtain a copy from the court where the divorce became final, Or you can obtain one with your Town Clerk’s office. To obtain a copy from the Town Clerks office the divorce must have been finalized between 1990 and six months prior to the request. Divorce Decree Certificate Application

A copy of a document filed in your divorce case can generally be obtained from the Judicial District Clerk's Office in the court location where the divorce took place. Your divorce decree is referred to as the "Judgment File." The Clerk's Office will need your case name and docket number (the number that was assigned to the case), and there are fees for copying and certifying.

Pro se generally works best if the parties agree on most of the issues around the children, the finances and the property. You must file an action in court and can get a "Do It Yourself Divorce" guide packet also known as "Dissolution of Marriage" from the Superior Court Clerk or online at www.jud.state.ct.us.
