Distilled water is boiled and the steam condensed for drinking water. Distilled water contains practically no minerals or dissolved solids, whereas RO water does contain trace amount of minerals and salts. Most people report RO as testing better than distilled water, which can taste flat. Distillers use electricity whereas RO's work on line pressure from the household plumbing (Except for commercial and industrial RO Systems, which use pumps)and require no electricity.

Distilled water is water that has been heated to the boiling point so that impurities are separated from the water, which itself becomes vapor or steam. Steam is then condensed back into pure liquid form. The impurities remain as residue and are removed. Pure Water Distillation Systems remove waterborne biological contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, organic and inorganic chemicals, heavy metals, volatile gases, cysts and other contaminants.

Reverse Osmosis and Distillation processes do a very good job at removing contaminants from your water, but they start with dead tap water and do nothing to restore the vital properties of natural living water. Your credo is going to become less and less efficient over time. Filtered tap water is full of all the dissolved minerals which will ultimately plug your credo. The PH is balanced in tap water with chemicals which may interfere with the PG and cause variations in your humidity. Spring for a $0.69 gallon jug of distilled water. It'll make a difference.

The low pH is caused by the presence of dissolved carbon dioxide forming a weak solution of carbonic acid. This usually has no effect in general use but, if necessary, can be removed by boiling the water. We are confused about purging the analyzer. The instruction manual states 12 - 16 hours and yet the start up calibration procedure says only 1 hour. Please clarify.

If distilled water must be used, it will be necessary to add a "pinch" of salt once each week to the water. This will permit electricity to pass through the water for the probe controls. We suggest that "soft" treated water be used in lieu of distilled water and that the boilers be given a daily blowdown. This will prove less expensive and will work well even in hard water areas.

You lost air pressure in the tank. RO tanks have a bladder in them with an 8 psi (55.2 kPa) air charge. Once all the water is removed from the tank, adjust the pressure to 8 psi (55.2 kPa). This can be done using a bicycle pump or air compressor.
