C visas are issued for a short-term trip only, usually for the purpose of tourism, visiting family, business meetings or conferences. The maximum duration for which the Immigration Officer will allow you remain in the State with a C visa is 90 days. Once this time has elapsed, your permission to remain will not be extended and you must leave the State. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your intended date of departure from Ireland.

The validity date is based upon the earlier of: your or your dependents' passport validity date(s), or the medical validity date(s). Medical examination results are valid for 12 months after the initial medical examination. Immigrant visas cannot be extended once issued. If applicants do not use the visas within their validity, they must reapply for immigration to Canada.

The consul may issue an immigrant visa with a maximum validity of six months. If an applicant must delay travel to the U.S. beyond six months, he/she should contact the U.S. consulate and arrange to have the interview scheduled closer to his/her possible departure. If an immigrant visa has already been issued and circumstances force the alien to remain abroad longer, the applicant should contact the U.S. consulate and request an extension of the immigrant visa's validity.

The J-1 Training Visa is valid for up to 18 months. As a new agent, you will first need to sign an agreement with EDI.

In order to get a visa, most countries require that your passport be valid for at least 6 months past your scheduled return to the U.S. If you are getting a multiple entry visa, and your passport is set to expire soon, you might consider getting your passport renewed first, since most visas in your passport are no longer valid once your passport has expired.

Construction permits are valid for 18 months from the date of issuance. Master Use Permits are valid for a period of up to 5 years from the approval date following the public appeals process.

Visas that are not "indefinite" have an expiration date clearly marked on the visa. After that date, the visa is no longer valid and a new application should be made.
