Because of the chemicals that most people put in their spa baths we do not recommend that you use the Q2 Water Energy System in the spa. These chemicals are the same principle of foreign additives to the water, they are bad for the unit and bad for you. Another reason is that the current from the air jets could damage the unit. In addition, the fact that the water in spa baths is not changed after every bath does not make this a very good choice for treatment with the Q2 Water Energy System.

Yes you should shock the water after you've filled the spa and removed the hardness from the water, and before using PristineBlue, using a non-chlorine shock. PristinePower, supplied in the starter kit, is best. When using PristineBlue, you should also shock water fortnightly with PristinePower to destroy organic wastes, body fats and oils that the filter is unable to remove. This will help to keep the water crystal clear and ensure that you use less of the PristineBlue liquid.

It's always a good idea to have your spa dealer fully test your water once you have completed your start-up process to make sure everything is in line. If you experience any difficulties with balancing or sanitizing, have your dealer test the water and give you an analysis of what needs to be done to correct the situation.

You know what a bathtub looks like after one person, right? What if there were several people in their with you? The big difference between a spa & a bathtub is that a spa has a built-in filter & it's being chemically treated. If it gets really foamy or cloudy, then drain, clean & refill the spa.

Follow the Simple Spa Care Program, which is a weekly routine of testing and adding the proper products based on the test results. The program also includes monthly filter and cover cleaning, as well as draining the spa about every three months.

Although Free is persistent at controlling bacteria, it is important to remember that a spa is a small body of water. So, continual use means bathers will deposit large amounts of dirt, perspiration, body oils, deodorant, make-up and other contaminants into a relatively small volume of water. If your spa is used heavily (approximately two people, three times a week, a half hour at a time) we recommend that you change your water every 60 days.

The following are approximates: Your ozonator cleanses the water with ultra-violet rays, which quickly deplete your water of bromine. You can use a shock treatment to quickly raise your bromine count as a sanitizing aid, if needed.

How often you shock spa water depends on the sanitizer used and the bather load. If you are using chlorine or bromine tablets, it is recommended that you shock at least one time per week. It may be necessary to shock more often if the bather load is heavy or the water is cloudy. Cartridge Filters: Remove the filter cartridge(s) and either clean or replace. To clean cartridge(s), first use a filter cleaner as per label directions. After rinsing the filter cartridge(s), completely submerge the cartridge(s) in a 1/10 solution of sodium hypochlorite (liquid bleach) and water for two hours. Inspect and clean the filter housing. Set the filters aside for installation after the spa decontamination is complete.

Although the pH and total alkalinity measurements are the same, the sanitizer level (bromine or chlorine) should be kept between 3-5 ppm. In a spa, the filter requires more frequent cleanings.
