The Bank Identifier Code (BIC), also known as the SWIFT Address, is the code necessary to send automated International Payments quickly and accurately to the banks concerned. Based on payment instructions together with the receiver's International Bank Account Number (IBAN), the SWIFT Address / BIC facilitates streamlined processing of International payments. The SWIFT Address / BIC is a mandatory requirement for EU regulated payments i.e.

IBAN or BIC codes (sometimes known as SWIFT code) contain information to allow easy and efficient payments via bank transfer in Europe. This information cannot be used to perform any other operation on your account. The IBAN code ensures the identification of your account on an international level. Legally we have had to issue you with an IBAN and a BIC to be associated with it since 1 July 2003. IBAN & BIC information has appeared on your paper statements for these currencies since 1 July 2003. If you trade with companies in Europe, since this date you have had to provide details of your IBAN & BIC on invoices issued.

A Swift Boat is a 22-ton, heavily-armed, 50-foot, shallow-draft aluminum patrol craft similar to the utility boats servicing oil platforms and other offshore facilities in the Gulf of Mexico today.
