OLE is an acronym for Object Linking and Embedding. This is used by Microsoft Office products to embed themselves in other Office products (such as embedding a Word document in a Power Point document). Unfortunately, some viruses can embed themselves in these layers as well. The Trend Micro Office Scan client scans down into OLE layers to find embedded viruses. We chose a default of 3 layers as a balance between protection and performance.

The best analogy is to the way cartoons used to be animated. Each component of a scene would be painted on a transparent film, and then each film would be stacked or layered over the other to produce the complete composition. In this way, you could easily animate a person walking because his legs could be animated independantly of his body, for example. Similarly, complex images can be broken down to layers within GIMP and each layer can be processed independentlly of every other.

If you are placing layers on a page based on a centered template then a layer can move significantly. This happens if the cursor was inside the centered area at the time you created the layer and is only visible after you have saved. Make sure that you click at the top left of such a page before you insert a new layer. Then it will stay correctly positioned. Minor movements in layers may occur between edit content mode and after saving the page. Always go by the page as it appears once saved.

If you would like to use copper planes in inner layers you should be aware of several things and know how this works: EAGLE uses so-called Supply layers, that will be generated automatically and lead one single signal. And there are the quite "normal" inner layers that use polygons for copper planes. This one can be activated with the Supply option in the DISPLAY menu, Change button.

OLE controls are the 32-bit successor to 16-bit VBX controls. Instead of being stored in a plain DLL and having functional interfaces, OLE controls rely on OLE automation. Hopefully this will make the interface more flexible and easier to use than VBXs. Although OLE controls use OLE, they are not object oriented. There is a flat set of properties you have access to and you can not apply OO techniques such as inheritance, polymorphism, etc.. to them.

The VCL is free to destroy and create controls whenever it needs to. Certain events, like changing the Scrollbars property for a TRichEdit control, cause this to happen. When this does happen, the connection between the TRichEdit control and TRichEditOleCallback class is lost – the "new" Rich Edit no longer calls the TRichEditOleCallback functions that provide the OLE support. Yes, two layers can be processed at one time, in either the boiling water bath or pressure canner. Place a small wire rack between the layers so water or steam will circulate around each jar. Make certain that the water covers the tops of all jars by 1 inch in a boiling water bath canner. The pressure canner should have 2 to 3 inches of water in the bottom.
