How on earth did you get to live with an Amish family to do research?

Jodi Picoult | FAQs
Amazingly, through the Internet. After posting a query on a Lancaster County message board, I got a response from a lovely Mennonite woman, with whom I struck up a research relationship. After many email queries, she suggested I come visit the area and volunteered to find me some Amish friends to stay with. I was there for a week, milking at 4:30 AM and participating in the morning Bible study, as well as helping out with the cooking of meals.

Basic Questions
After WWII, a number of people independently started to work on intelligent machines. The English mathematician Alan Turing may have been the first. He gave a lecture on it in 1947. He also may have been the first to decide that AI was best researched by programming computers rather than by building machines. By the late 1950s, there were many researchers on AI, and most of them were basing their work on programming computers. See similar questions...

Amish FAQ
Donald B. Kraybill in his book, The Riddle of Amish Culture, writes: "The Amish blueprint for expected behavior, called the Ordnung, regulates private, public, and ceremonial life. I've spent countless hours in libraries, exploring new and used bookstores, performing web searches, cross-referencing information, and designing the pages. I've found leads in the most obscure of places, too, and found some wonderful things in the process of following those up. See similar questions...

Well, at school in year 7 we had table groups, and we had to come up with a name. Ours was really long (thought up by me! :D) but for security reasons, I cannot tell you what it is ;~; . Anyway, our logo was a cookie in a blender. I called it "A crunchie in a blender." I loved that name, and when I created this site, I immediately thought of "Crunchieinablender.com."
