Once the physical examinations have all been completed at the beginning of term, we will meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the UH Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Basic sinus surgery is performed through the insertion of an endoscope, a very thin fiberoptic tube, into the nose. In the majority of cases, the surgical procedure is performed entirely through the nostrils, leaving no external scars. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and is done as a same day surgery, not requiring an overnight stay. The patient usually returns to normal activities within four to seven days; full recovery takes about four weeks.

The structure and length of lessons is dependent on the age and level of each student. The minimum lesson length is one hour. I will build lesson plans that work best for the pupil to make sure that their maximum potential is achieved. All lessons, however, will include a short yet intense warm up for the body and voice.

A typical visit begins with diagnosis through questioning, observation of the tongue and analysis of the pulse. If this is not your first visit these are still applied to monitor progress. Depending on the diagnosis, most treatments involve a combination of acupuncture and herbal medicine - acupuncture is applied during your visit and you are given herbs to take at home.

Volunteering is fun and easy to do! Don’t worry if you’ve never volunteered before—there will be instructions at the drive and experienced volunteers to help you out. You will either sit at the registration table signing in donors, or at the food table, feeding and entertaining donors after they give blood. And as a volunteer, you are eligible for all the raffles and giveaways we have at the drive!

Laser is a form of light and flashes of that light are targeted at particular areas of the retina through a special lens. This is usually monitored through a microscope. It is an outpatient procedure and may take up to 15 minutes. It can cause discomfort but is usually not painful.
