It is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. It is related to the similar task of using computers to understand human intelligence, but AI does not have to confine itself to methods that are biologically observable.

We are not trying to create a specific form of intelligence, but rather trying to understand the emergence of mammalian intelligence. We will of course be examining the computational power of the NCC. In particular, we will explore the ability of the NCC to act as a Liquid Computer (a form of analog computer that handles continuous data streams). This could be used for dynamic vision and scene segmentation, real-time auditory processing, as well as sensory-motor integration for robotics.

It is in the nature of any technology that it can be used for good or for bad. If AI systems are seen as agents of their creators or the groups that deploy them, then accountability must reside with those that put such systems into use. That is a general concern we all should have whether we are talking about tools such as a hammer, a car, or a computer system such as an elevator controller, an automated financial stock dealing system or a computer controlled gun.

The need system in Conan artificial intelligence is loosely based around famous American psychologist Abraham Maslow's pyramid of needs. Characters in current games are mostly guided in a hard-wired stimulus-response manner. For a specific situation, a specific action or a predefined script is executed. The characters rarely react appropriately in situations that were not foreseen by the programmers (see also our game AI overview article).

Do pets eventually resemble their owners? Or do owners get to look like their pets? It's heck of a conundrum - but one we might now be a little closer to solving. Intelligence refers to a general mental capability. It involves the ability to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend complex ideas, learn quickly, and learn from experience. Although not perfect, intelligence is represented by Intelligent Quotient (IQ) scores obtained from standardized tests given by a trained professional.

Intelligence is the computational part of the ability to achieve goals in the world. Varying kinds and degrees of intelligence occur in people, many animals and some machines. Not yet. The problem is that we cannot yet characterize in general what kinds of computational procedures we want to call intelligent. We understand some of the mechanisms of intelligence and not others. No.

The answer to this question could fill up a book, but for our purpose here we'll try to keep it short. Innate intelligence is the inborn wisdom/intelligence of our body (and all living things) that allows us to adapt to our environment in order to survive. It has nothing to do with how smart a person is, their education, or ability to learn. It is our body's ability to regulate itself.
