A limited number of parking permits are provided, arrangements need to be made prior to the event. Since Vanderbilt is a residential campus, parking spaces are very limited. You must have a current or valid HBU parking hang-tag from the HBU Police (generally obtained during registration). If you are driving a different vehicle than the one you have registered with our department, you must notify the office of Safety and Security. By doing this, our Parking Patrol can avoid ticketing the new car, and we can locate you, should the need arise. If your regular car is out of commission, due to mechanical problems, a temporary permit will be issued, once it has been verified that you have purchased a valid permit for the current quarter.

If your property does not have a private drive you will be able to park on the road near to your house. Please be aware that you may not always be able to park directly outside of your property. Rain or shine, you must walk to campus, just as they do on thousands of campuses around the world. Commuter students may not park in residential parking, either. Canisius College is one of very few colleges that allow freshmen resident students to keep cars on campus. After purchasing a parking pass, students may park in various assigned lots around the campus. While there is plenty of parking available, most freshmen will not be able to park next to their residence hall. Best advice: Leave the car at home for the first year.

When possible, advise your student to park on the perimeter of parking lots and garages.
