Principally, it's a question of life. A Xenon bulb is expected to give around 10,000 hours of life which on a vessel or in a caravan occupied only part of the time, should represent many years! HID bulbs can explode if it is not handled correctly. This will occur if the bulb is very cold when first turned on, or if it contains fingerprint oils or moisture. To prevent accidents, never pick the bulb up directly by the glass - you need to be careful about fingerprints getting on it.. Handle the bulb by the base and wrap the glass body in a paper towel. We strongly recommend that you do not try to fit HID headlights yourself. These headlights require electronic control gear that can interfere with other electrical systems on your car, for example the airbag. They also produce extremely high voltages that could be potentially lethal. Technically speaking it could and it is possible to adapt the light colour produced. However, this would lead to substantial loss of intensity, thereby canceling out the particular advantages gained. i.e. Increased driver concentration and reflection of the road marking etc of white light.
