The greenhouses do well in snow. The greenhouse paneling is slippery so snow frequently just slides off the structure, and low temperatures will not harm the greenhouse plastic. If there is a snow build-up, the greenhouse can support several hundred pounds of pressure. Our domes can handle any snow load. Our engineering program will determine the tubing size required for the snow load in your area. We make up to 2 inch diameter frames.

There are four design loads in Larimer County. For elevations under 7000 feet the ground snow load is 30 pounds per square foot (psf). Elevations from 7001 feet to 7999 feet the ground snow is 40 psf. From 8000 feet to 8999 feet the ground snow is 50 psf. For elevations 9000 feet and over the ground snow load is 70 psf. The minimum basic wind speed is 100 mph (3 second gust) and exposure "C" will be assumed. Frost depth for this region is assumed to be 30 inches minimum.

was the driest year of the three previous runnings, and there were short snowbanks to cross over most of the major passes, with a substantial amount (thigh deep) below Virginus Pass. In '95 almost the entire course was under snow, and the run was cancelled because of it. Expect anything in between. We'll post periodic snow reports here, as the season progresses. You can also check them yourself. There are unseasonable bare spots on the peaks above Silverton.

In the event of heavy snow, snow cleared from the roadway may fall on and cover the trail where it is closer than 10 ft. from the road. Under those circumstances, the City will plow that portion of the trail. In normal snowfall, snow from the roadway should not be an issue.

We've have never experienced a problem during Wisconsin winters, however there is a possibility it could occur during a very heavy snow load. In order to prevent it from collapsing, a temporary "T" brace made out of 2X2's or similar should work on the 4X4 single blynd. You want to be able to wedge it in place from the floor to the roof. The 4X8 double wide will need 2 supports on the inside perimeter. There is a metal roof support in the middle.

If conditions are such that there is not enough snow cover to skiing or snowshoeing to the yurts all reservation proceeds will be refunded in full. No other refunds or changes will be allowed. Lottery fees will not be refunded.

Kidsports Management will make a determination by 10:00am for the earlier parties, and 1:00pm for the later parties. If a decision is made by Kidsports to cancel a party, you will be able to move your party to a new date and time. But since it would be based on availability, you may need to wait as much as 2-3 weeks.

Posts that have been installed with post holes and concrete can be "heaved" out of the ground by the freezing and thawing of the surrounding soil.

Snow removal was done by High School custodians and Buildings and Grounds employees. It will be improved for the winter of 2006/2007 -- there were a few problems this past winter stemming from miscommunications between the two groups. A snow fighter meeting will be held in late October 2006, between the two groups to make sure assignments are clearly understood.
