How does the ScaleSafe system prevent scale buildup and remove existing scale?

ScaleSafe
The ScaleSafe system prevents scale by acting as a scale inhibitor. It distorts the almost perfect cube like shape of the calcium molecule. This distortion prevents the formation of crystalline calcium carbonate by not allowing the calcium molecules to buildup on each other. To remove scale, ScaleSafe simply combines with the calcium in the precipitated calcium carbonate.

Why do I need to remove and prevent scale buildup?

ScaleSafe
Scale buildup on heat transfer surfaces causes metal fatigue which can result in premature equipment failure. It also acts as an insulator thereby reducing heat transfer efficiency with a resulting increase in energy consumption. The high cost of fuel alone makes it increasingly important to maintain scale free equipment systems. A 1/4" coating of scale on a heat transfer surface can require 55% more energy than normal to attain the same temperature. See similar questions...

What about scale buildup?

ASTRAL
Scale build up is a function of the roughness of the pipe, as measured by the Hazen - Williams "C" factor, used in the Hazen - Williams formulas for calculating friction head losses in piping system. with metal systems, Once corrosion starts "C" factor will greatly reduced which result in head loss and scale build up With Astral Aquarius PVC, there is no corrosion and hence scale build up is inhibited. What does the ScaleSafe system do?

ScaleSafe
The ScaleSafe system prevents mineral scale buildup in equipment such as water heaters, boilers, heat exchangers, cooling towers, pressure washers, ice machines and domestic water systems. It also removes existing scale over a period of time, while inhibiting corrosion. See similar questions...

How well does the benchmark scale in both scale-up and scale-out configurations?

SPECjAppServer2004 Frequently Asked Questions
SPECjAppServer2004 has been designed and tested with both scale-up and scale-out configurations. The design of the benchmark does not limit the scaling in either way. How well it scales in a particular configuration depends largely on the capabilities of the underlying hardware and software components. See similar questions...

How do I prevent/treat algae buildup?

GreenCoast Hydroponics - Hydroponic Nutrient, pH and Reservo...
The best way to handle algae is to prevent it from occurring. Algae needs light to grow, so keep your reservoir out of light. It should be shade or covered with a lid. You should also take care to shade the input and output pipes and other 'wet' equipment. If you already have an algae problem you should clean out your system thoroughly, using the method discussed below. See similar questions...

How can I prevent a carbon monoxide buildup?

Have an annual furnace service performed yearly. In 29 years of working with gas equipment, I have never come across a carbon monoxide accident in properly maintained equipment. See similar questions...

Why does existing scale deposits clear?

Gulf Trade Link
The ION Scalebuster by precipitating scale from the water makes the water less saturated and able to dissolve old deposits. See similar questions...

Does all of the water have to flow through the ScaleSafe system?

ScaleSafe
The ScaleSafe system is designed to dispense 4-6 ppm. In order to consistently receive this dosage all of the water in a system should pass through the unit. However, in some instances, 1-2 ppm is an adequate dosage rate. In this instance, a bypass manifold may be used as a convenient way to blend untreated water with treated water thus allowing a lower dosage rate than standard. (NOTE: Use of a lower than standard dosage rate depends on your specific application and water parameters. See similar questions...

What about the existing scale in my water system?

Frequently asked questions about hard water
Once soft water starts flowing through your system, the corrosion build-up will begin to reverse. It's a lengthy process but the pipes and tanks will clear in time and your heating costs will start to reduce. See similar questions...

How does the Handle System Scale?

HANDLE.NET FAQs
Quantity of requests. If there are typically more requests per unit time than a given server can handle, the load on that server can be reduced by spreading it across more servers at that particular site. If a site becomes overloaded, one or more "secondary" sites may be used to replicate the primary site and thus to offload it. Quantity of data: If a single namespace becomes too large to be housed on a single server, it can be distributed across multiple servers that make up a site. See similar questions...

Buildup of hard water scale on showerheads is a huge problem these days. What about Thunderhead?

ET Industries - Frequently Asked Questions
The nipples on the spray head are made of rubber and are large, soft, and hollow. Think of a baby bottle nipple! All you do is pinch them to break up and flush out any buildup. Brush your hand back and forth across the head to remove any sediment that’s collected. See similar questions...

Q.How does ScaleSafe inhibit corrosion?

ScaleSafe
As previously stated, eventually all surfaces that have been wetted with ScaleSafe will be coated with a protective microfilm of calcium phosphate. Calcium phosphate is well known as an excellent scale and corrosion inhibitor. This microfilm coating does not increase in thickness as it is continually washed off and replaced by the flow of treated water. See similar questions...

How long does it take to see results after installing the ScaleSafe system?

ScaleSafe
As a preventative for scale buildup, the result can be seen immediately since there will be no increase in calcium carbonate precipitate buildup. The rate of scale removal depends on water velocity, scale density and water chemistry. Generally, the process of scale removal will be evident within 30 days. See similar questions...

Does the ScaleSafe system have to be mounted in any certain direction?

ScaleSafe
The ScaleSafe dispenser must be mounted vertically, with the sump directly below the dispenser head. The system will be stamped with either an arrow or be marked "inlet and outlet" indicating the direction of flow of the water through the system. Incorrect mounting may cause the unit to overfeed resulting in excessive product use. See similar questions...

What is lactic acid buildup and how does Sports Massage help with that?

LA Sports Massage FAQ
Lactic acid is a constituent part of the cellular metabolic cycle. During strenuous anaerobic exercise the levels of lactic acid can rise to high levels, causing fatigue and a burning feeling in the muscle tissues. The high levels of lactate can linger longer than most of us would wish for. One way to diminish that burning feeling in our muscles is with a recovery style Sports Massage. The long strokes of a recovery Sports Massage aids circulation. See similar questions...

What can I do to prevent moss buildup on my cedar roof?

Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau
Zinc or copper strips nailed at the ridge cap can be used to control moss for a limited number of courses. Reaction between rain and the zinc or copper forms a mild solution that is carried down sections of the roof for two or three feet. The optional use of these strips can be eliminated if you are using Certi-Last® products. Complete care and maintenance recommendations are available in the CSSB's Care & Maintenance Brochure. How does it scale?

DMP FAQ
Domains with more SMTP traffic will benefit more from DMP than domains with less traffic. Testing over nineteen-thousand domains over an eighteen month period (June 2002 to November 2003) showed an average increase in bandwidth of 4.15%, not including Time-to-live caching supported by most DNS server software, with roughly 33% of those domains only experiencing less than 1% of an increase. That increase also did not take into account the bandwidth saved by refusing forged e-mail. See similar questions...

Does DieHard prevent all crashes? If not, what does it prevent?

Emery Berger - DieHard FAQs
No, although that would be nice. DieHard completely prevents particular memory management errors from having any effect (these are "double frees" and "invalid frees"). It dramatically reduces the likelihood of another kind of error known as "dangling pointer" errors, and lowers the odds that moderate buffer overflows will have any effect. It prevents certain library-based heap overflows (e.g., through strcpy), and all but eliminates another problem known as "heap corruption." See similar questions...
