In your FTP options, check to see if you have "passive" mode enabled. If you do, disable it. If you don't, try enabling it. This could make a difference. If not, the issue may be with your internet connection.

You need to switch your FTP software client to not have passive mode (PASV off). This will increase performance as well! So please turn this off if you can. We also suggest making sure port 21 and 20 are open on your firewall or personal firewall to make sure ftp performance is at its peak. Probably you are in the U.S.A, and you don't have much experience with long distance ftp transfers. It is probably because you used "Passive Transfer Mode" in your FTP client program which is usually the default setting. Depending on what FTP client program you use, if you use WS_FTP, you can go to "Option" -> "Sessions", and then uncheck "Passive Transfer Mode".
