European Television Standard European television conforms to the PAL (Phase Alternation by Line) standard, which runs at 25 frames (50 fields, or half-frames) per second. This is close enough to the film standard of 24 fps, that 24 fps films are often simply run at 25 fps, with possibly a bit of pitch-shifting on the soundtrack to make it sound less 'screechy.

We transfer all formats of film (8mm, S-8mm, 16mm, S-16mm, 9.5mm, and 35mm), both negative and reversal.

Videos can be added to a film, in between a batch of photographs. We receive many requests for this and it does make a film more interesting. We do charge $10 for each video segment added (each 5 minutes of video is considered one video segment).

The rates for showing film and video are the same for any other art form if the work is shown in an exhibition context. This is why there is no separate category for film and video in the Exhibitions section. Research copies of materials, with burnt-in time code, are available on either DVD or VHS formats. For licensing materials, we use a submaster recording and can provide footage in NTSC standard Beta SP, DVCam, Mini-DV, VHS and DVD.

All national federations have received a copy - these videos are free to copy, except the video "Rule Changes 1998-2002". For further copies please contact your national federation. The format available is VHS with PAL, SECAMor NTSC color system. The languages available are English and French.
