Make sure the master is free of damage or blemishes and is produced on a high quality media brand. The master disc plays back successfully because the player only spins at 1X during play. During the burn process the reader has to spin the disc at a much higher rate in order to match the duplicating speed. The same video and audio codecs are required to play the AVI files back on a different machine. The reason for this being that the file needs to be decompressed "on the fly" before the frames can be shown.
