A scholarship is a fixed fee reduction of £1,000 per annum offered following exceptional performance in the entrance exam (or audition/interview for Ragg or Music scholarships). The value of the scholarship can be increased through means-testing. Assisted Place is a fee reduction available to parents who cannot afford the full fees. Yes. According to Canadian tax regulations, all scholarships and bursaries are considered taxable income. Therefore, we are required by law to issue you a T4A for the amount of the scholarship or bursaries you received in a calendar year. These T4As are mailed to your address listed on QCARD in February following the end of the calendar year. The first $3,000 of scholarship/bursary revenue received annually is exempt from taxation, and the rest must be claimed as income.

It is compulsory for all recipients of the above awards to submit an Interbank GIRO form as disbursement of the award/s will be made directly to their respective bank accounts.

The University of Ottawa has established the minimum endowment level at $20,000. This gift can be made as pledge and can include multiple donor and matching funds from corporation change to pledges, corporations and the Government of Ontario. Endowed bursaries will continue to exist as long as the University does as the capital is never spent. In general, 4.5% of the returns on investments are put in the expendable account, which in turn pays out the bursary, scholarship or award.
