The world on the twenty-first century is a civilized one, governed by law and custom, but with the predator/prey relationship between species an accepted part of life. Predators are expected to curb their appetites around their herbivorous co-workers (Smelly Johnson takes pride in fostering this attitude at the Skunkworks). However, Nature still rules. A fox can take down a rabbit if provoked. Jenny thinks it's funny that Jack would have a friend who's a mouse.

Great white sharks and killer whales (Orcas) prey on elephant seals as well as other marine life. Great whites attack from below with most attacks occurring near the surface. If the bite is superficial, the seal may escape. Sometimes you can see e-seals with scars showing they had a near-miss encounter with a shark. Predation by orcas has been documented less frequently.

All sex offenders that meet Nebraska's registry's requirements are required to register, including individuals that have been declared sexually violent predators by the court. Sexually violent predators are required to register a minimum of 10 years and remain registered until the court determines the person no longer suffers from a mental abnormality or personality disorder that makes the person likely to engage in a sexually violent offense.

A sexually violent predator is a person who has been convicted of one or more of the offenses requiring registration and who suffers from a mental abnormality or personality disorder, making them likely to commit sexually violent offenses for the purpose of victimization. An offender can only be determined a sexual violent predator by the sentencing court after considering evidence from experts on behavior and treatment of sexual offenders.

Many animals happily ignore the gentle opossum, and there have been many reports of pet cats making friends with neighborhood opossums. Their natural enemies, though, are foxes, coyotes, dogs, bobcats, and owls. But even more than these natural predators, their greatest enemy in the modern world is the automobile.

You can minimize predation by starlings, jays and kestrels by using nest boxes that are approved by the North American Bluebird Society. In the Willamette Valley, we recommend that nest boxes have an entrance hole that is 1 ½" in diameter. This is too small to admit the larger birds. The nest boxes need to have sufficient depth below the entrance hole to keep these birds from reaching eggs or chicks by sticking their heads into the nest box.

Since the ordinance stipulates that the hens must be in a completely enclosed, predator-proof enclosure, and locked in a solid henhouse at night, the hens will not attract predators any more than a rabbit in a hutch (and since the ordinance regulates pen construction, the coops will be much more predator-proof than the average rabbit hutch.) The ordinance also contains restrictions concerning feed so that other pests will not be attracted.

Birds including hawks, crows and roadrunners. Watch for Roadrunners at your feeders. Snakes, lizards, toads, frogs, praying mantis, large dragonflies and even some spiders can pose a danger.

The restoration project will address the issue of invasive species and predators and develop methods to reduce their impact. Control of introduced species and predators will focus on those species with the greatest impacts on native wildlife and species for which there are effective methods for control. The Project Management Team will work with the Invasive Spartina Project to determine how to control introduced species of cordgrass or Spartina.

Blue herons and raccoons love fish so ponds must be designed with this in mind. A pond should be at least 8 ft. wide and 2 ft. deep to discourage raccoons. These dimenions make it difficult for raccoons as they will not dive into a pond for fish. Blue herons are the most difficult challenge. When herons are found to be a problem, we install a motion-activated sprinkler which is very effective at keeping the birds away.

In remote areas, great horned owls, martins and some snakes prey on young falcons still in the nest. However, in urban areas peregrines have few predators.

Mountain lions, wolves, bobcats, coyotes and golden eagles are predators of bighorn sheep. Eagles have been known to prey upon lambs, but they are unable to kill adult bighorn. Predation is usually not a problem for healthy bighorn populations; however, when bighorn are supressed by other factors, predation can limit recovery and potentially drive a population to extinction.

The hunting ritual did not go as planned; the humans were not supposed to take the plasma cannons, the Predators were. The Predators were taking part in a 'coming of age' style ritual and were quite young (Technically teenagers). If they were skilled enough to defeat the Aliens in combat they were skilled enough to receive their plasma cannons.

There are various things you can do to a nestbox to help protect it from predators - please see the NNBW hints and tips page for details. However, if you do see a predator actually attacking your nestbox, it is best to let nature take its course. If you attempt to catch the predator or frighten it away, you may end up scaring the nesting birds away yourself and so do more harm than good.

No. To be classified as a sexual predator/offender, one could have been convicted of any number of crimes (see SC Code 23-3-430). Some crimes involve physical violence, and some don't. However, all are deemed by the court, based on previous behaviors, to represent a potential threat to certain persons (especially persons under the age of 16).

Raccoons, roadrunners, armadillos, coyotes, foxes, bobcats, feral cats, possums, birds of prey (protected) and more.

There are 3 major predator spider types that if found in homes seem to reduce the amount of Hobo spiders. These spiders are the Steatoda spiders, Large jumping spiders, and the other harmless European House spiders. We are working on getting some pictures on our web site but have not accomplished that yet. The preying mantis will also eat Hobo spiders but due to its day time activity and the Hobo spiders night time activity optimum results are not achieved.

Bluebird predators 'include snakes, cats, and raccoons, which are able to climb the post to access the nest, and raptors (birds of prey) which may take the fledglings as they leave the nest. There are precautions that can be taken to reduce the problem of predation at the nest box. These precautions include proper mounting and placement, and frequent monitoring, (Refer to NABS information sheet on "Predator Control").

Several species are known to prey on caribou. Wolves prey on caribou throughout the year, but most frequently in the winter. Bears prey on caribou during spring, summer and fall. Golden eagles take young calves during the early summer, and lynx are able to kill calves in the fall when caribou migrate into forested areas. When snow is deep, wolverines are sometimes able to kill caribou. Humans have hunted caribou for many thousands of years.

Predators are a problem in aquaculture. Other animals that occur naturally in or around the aquatic environment where fish farms are located will often view farmed fish as a potential food source. Marine finfish predators include seals and birds such as kingfishers, herons, mergansers and gulls. Freshwater finfish predators include otters, mink and raccoons, and eagles and osprey. Eagles and osprey are endangered species and are therefore managed and handled in a non-lethal manner.
