Emergency medical personnel respond immediately to the call.

Most tours include medi-evac insurance which allows you to be evacuated to South Africa for medical treatment. In addition it is compulsory for all over clients to have travel insurance which covers all medical and hospitalisation costs therafter. If you are unsure whether your travel insurance is adequate please do not hesitate to ask for information on additional insurance. US Dollars are widely accepted throughout Southern Africa, although bargaining is always best done in the local currency.

Your boat is equipped with a VHF Radio to link your houseboat to our base at all times. This radio is monitored 24 hours a day. So no matter what time of day or night you require our assistance we will have staff standing by for you.

There is a medical clinic in the fishing village that has a qualified nurse and occasionally a doctor that visits the island. In a medical emergency you would be taken by speedboat to the mainland (which takes about 60 - 90 minutes depending on how acute the emergency is and the weather conditions). You can change all major currencies at Pooh's restaurant and Bar at the current rate on the mainland plus a few percent handling fee.

A19. We have a large medical kit (including lots of medication), books, and some training. Some things are easy to handle, others might be difficult. We can hopefully call to get medical advice via SSB or sat phone.

Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (except for major holidays). If your child has a life threatening medical emergency take them immediately to the nearest medical emergency room or call "911". If you child has a non-life threatening medical emergency when the clinic is not open call 817-735-2363. You will be instructed to leave a message (follow the simple telephone recording instructions) and one of our physicians will promptly return your phone call.

I am St John’s Ambulance Pet First Aid certified. I also carry a cell phone, canine first aid kit and each dog’s veterinary contact info. All Waggin’ Trails clients are required to complete an emergency care authorization at the time of registration.

Why does a big, red engine arrive when I wanted an ambulance? Because firefighters and the engine can usually get there first, and time is critical in a medical emergency. In the early days, fire stations were strategically located so the crews could quickly get to burning buildings. Obviously, time is an important aspect of firefighting, because flames can rapidly spread through a building.

Our staff has first aid and CPR training, but we do not have physicians, nurses, or emergency medical technicians present on campus or with groups during off-campus activities. A local physician is on-call, and it is only about 10 minutes from the campus to a full-care regional hospital (off-campus activities may be considerably farther from hospital facilities).

Effective November 1, 2005, HUD announced the eligibility of firefighters and emergency medical technicians to purchase HUD acquired homes located in HUD designated revitalization areas at a discount, in accordance with HUD's regulations for the Officer/Teacher Next Door (OND/TND) Sales Program.

The Los Sueños CARE Clinic is located within the gates of the resort. Bilingual medical personnel are on call 24hrs per day. The clinic is equipped with state of the art emergency stabilization equipment. In severe cases, the clinic will arrange for emergency medical transfer services via ambulance or helicopter to the renowned CIMA Hospital in San Jose, which is affiliated with Baylor Medical University of Texas.

If your plans change, you may receive 90% of your deposit back if you cancel at least 4 weeks prior to stay. The 10% covers costs in processing your reservation. If you cancel within 4 weeks prior to your scheduled arrival, for any reason, your deposit is non-refundable. No refunds on early departures or weather conditions.
