It is always best to brush a poodle and get all the tangles out before giving a bath. Once the hair is wet, it is more difficult to get the tangles out without cutting. There is a grooming tool called a mat breaker for those more difficult mats. If it is impossible to remove the mat without hurting the dog, lather up and bathe. Use a cream rinse or conditioner, and leave it in. Brush or comb the dog with the conditioner still in. Take your time, so as not to hurt the dog.

You can't have both great fish life for snorkeling/diving and a beach sloping into long shallow sandy bottom. They just don't go together. Sandy bottoms are not conducive to coral formations and fish life.
