The Health & Wellness Center can collect blood and other specimens for analysis. Some tests are done on-site at the Center, and some are sent to off-site laboratories for analysis and interpretation. Some tests that are performed at the Health & Wellness Center include: The Health & Wellness Center does not perform x-rays or other radiologic tests on site, however our clinicians can order them for you.

There is a dispensary at the Health & Wellness Center that stocks a limited variety of prescription and non-prescription medications for BSU students. Additionally, clinicians can write prescriptions for medications that are not stocked. Pharmacy benefits, caps, and co-pays for SHIP enrollees are explained on the SHIP website.

This is a common experience. If you have a positive test, please bring documentation of a negative chest x-ray done within the last year OR have one done at Children's. Also, please answer the questions on the health form.

All students currently enrolled at BSU are eligible for medical care at the Health & Wellness Center, regardless of insurance status (including students without insurance coverage). We accept the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) and other insurance plans. The Medical Services staff includes nurse practitioners, physician assistants and board-certified family physicians, including a fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist.

In most cases, patients can choose where they’d like to go for these types of services. Your doctor may make a recommendation, or you can ask your doctor about using ECHN. The doctor uses the x-ray as a means of diagnosis as well as a means of following the progress of the disease.

AMI and x-ray are complementary techniques that are both frequently found in the same laboratories. They have important differences with regards to what they reveal in a sample. X-rays can be used to see inside a sample based upon material density differences. Dense materials are more opaque to x-radiation and penetration is more limited through metals compared with ceramics or polymers.

In addition to providing an indication of whether or not you have pneumoconiosis, the X-ray examination may also reveal evidence of other medical disorders. Heart problems and certain other diseases such as tuberculosis and lung cancer may be detected through a chest X-ray. The law requires that NIOSH report the results of your examination to the U.S. Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA).

If TB disease is present, it is probably in the lungs. If your skin test is positive, you will be asked to get a chest x-ray on the day of your skin test reading. A chest x-ray takes a picture of the lungs and shows the doctor if there are any signs there of TB. X-ray imaging itself is painless. If you are having a non-invasive procedure, the only discomfort should be lying flat on a hard table or a cold feeling if your skin comes in contact with some of the equipment. Some movements may be uncomfortable to you if you have a fracture or other problems like arthritis that limit your ability to move. Please tell the technologist and he or she will help make you as comfortable as possible.

The Health Center is where students receive primary medical care. The Wellness Center is a resource center for health education.

Taylor is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters, all others times the hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The health center may be closed on University holidays.

M has researched and designed screens and film to complement the veterinarian. Diagnostics are quite different from human and veterinary radiography and 3M has the system specifically for the veterinary field. X-ray is a kind of electro-magnetic waves having the ability to penetrate substances and x-ray is characterized by being able to ionize the tissues through which they traverse. Such ionization can produce harm to certain tissues in the body in case of high dose or prolonged exposure to x-ray. The most vulnerable tissues are as a rule are the tissues that have rapid growth rate such as the tissues of the fetus, ovaries, testes, blood forming bone marrow.

X-ray is electromagnetic radiation capable of penetrating solids, used to photograph and examine parts of the body, and the X signifies their unknown nature. Ultrasound is sound with a frequency greater than 20,000 Hz, approximately the upper limit of human hearing. It is used to photograph and examine parts of the body. A CAT Scan, or C (Computerized) A (Axial) T (Tomography), uses a scanner x-ray machine to take a cross section x-ray image of the body. It is also called a CT scan.
