Web Start uses the app's title stored in the jnlp startup file (e.g. <title>Venus Application Publisher<title>) to create the desktop shortcut. Make sure your app's title doesn't contain illegal characters (such as \ / : * ? " < > | ), otherwise you end up with the Web Start popup: "unable to create shortcut, try again later". Also check your title's length as too long titles cause problems as well (under Windope you can use up to 255 characters).

The alias command creates command aliases. Type alias shortstring="longcommandstring", substituting your own commands for shortstring and longcommandstring. The quotes around longcommandstring are necessary it the string contains spaces. You can put the alias commands into your login profile (see the next question).

Shortcuts to your favorite emoticons can be easily created to send your buddies. Simply place the cursor on any emoticon and click on the "EDIT" text which appears on the top of each icon. Clicking it will show an edit box where you can type the shortcut text you'd like, and after pressing "OK", you'll be able to select that emoticon by simply typing the shortcut text in the chat box. Note, shortcuts is available only for icons at this point.

You can create a shortcut to any file or folder on your computer by right clicking on any Shortcut Panel, selecting Create Shortcut and following the steps that are presented. Not yet. Currently we only support Internet Explorer Favorites. We plan on adding support for additional browser in the future. With release of v5.43 or higher, NYC automatically adds a desktop icon in addition to the Start Menu entry. If for some reason you delete the desktop icon, or you are using an earlier version than 5.43, here is how to add a desktop icon. Open Windows Explorer (Start... Programs...). Find your NYC folder and open it. Find the file "Nyc.exe", right-click it, and select Create Shortcut. The shortcut will then appear in your NYC folder (probably at the bottom of the file list).

Web Start currently mangles cache entries (e.g. venus.jar becomes RMvenus.jar).

You can only create folders which are subfolders of Inbox or other folders. So, just check the box next to Inbox before you create your new folder and it will work.

A few key combinations are reserved or not recommended. For example CTRL+ALT+P is reserved to add your URL to the database. Likewise, CTRL + F1 is usually Windows Help in most systems and may interfere with the normal functioning of the software. There would be occasions when a specified key combination is assigned a different function by a different application. For example, CTRL N would mean a new Window in IE. Or CTRL T would mean a new Tab being opened in FireFox.

Your desktop controls all information about your ad and can only be accessed by entering your user name and password. The Desktop tool allows you to Edit your ad, Manage Photo's, see how many people have viewed your ad, change property status to inactive, sold or contract pending, and upgrade your Free ad to a Featured Home Ad, with or without tech support. Logging into your desktop also automatically extends your ad for another 45 days.

The easiest way to get started with Web standards is to learn XHTML. This will give you a solid foundation to move forward with and if you know HTML should be very easy to pick up as it is, in essence, a simplified version of HTML. Shortcuts can be created to not just programs, you can also create shortcuts to frequently used files or folders. To create a shortcut on the desktop to a program or file, there are two possible methods to choose from. Locate the program or file to which you want to create a shortcut, click the program or file, click Open, and then click Next. Type a name for the shortcut. If a Finish button appears at the bottom of the dialog box, click it.

Point your mouse to the START button on the bottom left hand corner of the task bar, click the right mouse button and select EXPLORE using the left mouse button. Using EXPLORE go to where ACCLIQUE? is loaded (e.g. c:\Program Files\Acclique). Select the file called ACCLIQUE? using the left mouse button. Whilst ACCLIQUE? is selected hit the right mouse button and choose COPY. Move your cursor to point to the Windows desktop (background) and hit the right mouse button and select PASTE SHORTCUT.

There is a 3DNA icon in the systray area of the Windows taskbar (by the clock) that allows you to control the 3DNA Desktop. Right clicking on this icon will show you the options that are available. Choose Start 3DNA to launch the 3DNA Desktop.

Right click on a file of the type you want to associate with the new program. Select [Open With] and select the new default program either from the list or by browsing. Check the box to always use the program to open this type of file.
