A service of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the Month and sometimes at other special Sundays and other services.

Lately, we have favored the intinction style of communion, whereby a person walks to the front or back of the sanctuary and takes a small piece of bread and dips it into the cup of grape juice.

We take communion each week as a tangible reminder of God's gift to us in Jesus Christ. We believe in open communion - that means that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is welcome to take communion, whether they are a church member or not.

MDUMC celebrates communion on the first Sunday of each month. On the other Sundays, communion is served at 9:15 a.m. in the Landrum Chapel, which is located on the east side of the campus off of Wesley Hall. Communion is also celebrated at Mid-Week Worship on the third Wednesday of the month.

When you kneel or stand at the altar rail, you will be offered a wafer of consecrated bread and a sip of consecrated wine from the common chalice. The usual way to receive the bread is to place your right hand in your left, and to extend your open palms toward the server.
