This equipment is handled by the Equipment Cage on the second floor. They can be reached at 813-393-5332. The Library supplies video cameras, audio recorders, psychological tests, and rooms in this same manner.

This is another example of how a seemingly simple question can spiral down into an ugly set of if/then statements.

The library has laptop computers available for students for 4-hour checkout periods for in-library use only. You will need both a current UW-Whitewater student ID and a state ID such as a driver's license. Laptop computers are also available for overnight checkout by UW-Whitewater faculty and teaching academic staff only.

If the display from your laptop does not come up on the LCD projector there are a few things to check: middot; Check to be sure the projector is turned on & you have the correct input selected on the projector. (usually computer 1 or data1) middot; Does your screen resolution match the capabilities of the LCD projector? If not, you will need to reduce your screen resolution to the capabilities of the projector. 800x600 for SVGA, 1024x768 for XGA.

There are 18 notebooks available to be borrowed. However, the notebooks may only be used within the library. The notebooks are located in the computer lab and may be checked out with a valid USC ID.

Students may check out multiple pieces of equipment each check-out, but no more than one piece from each catagory. In other words, a student may have a projector, laptop, digital camera and flatbed scanner, but may not have two laptops at once. To reserve more than one item at a time, just select the items on the same request page.

Material/Building services has laptops (with Windows 98 and Powerpoint) and laptop projectors. Fill up their "AVS MSR" form at www.matserv.ucla.edu. Don't fill in the recharge ID. Do give your course number and professor's name. They should then confirm your order. You can pick up the equipment from their office in Boelter 2685 (entrance from the outside corridor).

Connect the provided video cable from the RGB or Monitor Output on the computer to the RGB Input on the projector; If condition persists, set the projector to RGB using the input button and change the display mode on the laptop. This might differ for each laptop. For most Dell laptops, press and hold the blue Fn button on the lower left of the keyboard, then press the F8 key.

older PPC laptops with DB-15 connectors (there should be a small gray adapter in the bag with the projector that says "NEC multisync" on it) even older laptops (500 series, 5300) with the VDI output (there's a longer grey adapter cable in the bag as well)

For the really old Mac laptops, you'll have to grab the adapter from the Epson bag, and use it along with the dipswitch adapter.

Generally, yes. The LitePro has a converter box which will accept a signal from either VGA (labelled "PC") or the older Mac monitor connect (HD-15). You need to dial the circular converter appropriately. New Macs should just use the "PC" setting. For reasons that escape me entirely, sometimes it works better if you use the mac setting and an HD-15 to VGA converter. Go figure.

For more complicated setup issues, you can usually access the monitor settings in Windows by right-clicking in the desktop window to get the "properties" of the desktop. Use the menu controls and make sure that the projector is set for input from the computer monitor connector (might be called "RGB"), not "VCR" or "S-video". Most Mac laptops are capable of producing 2 separate video signals.

Laptops cannot be reserved through the Solution Center. They are available to Iowa State students on a first-come, first-serve basis. A limited number of Windows and Macintosh laptops are available each day for checkout so the best time to try is right ... Unfortunately, no. The laptops are completely re-imaged when they are checked back into the Solution Center and all personal files are deleted.

If you have registered with American Targets, you may log in before proceeding to checkout, and all of your checkout information will be entered into the checkout form for you. After reviewing your order, click Send Order. If you prefer not to register, you should enter all required information into the checkout form and click Send Order. Be sure to make a note of your order number.

Academic Technology Services might also help you out. Our understanding is that they will lend projectors without charge for official Brandeis courses (including journal clubs with Brandeis course numbers), if they have any available.
