Typical laundry detergents contain fabric softeners, fragrance and color brighteners which are water-attractive residues—not something you want on the surface of your Gore-Tex fabric. If you can afford a Gore-Tex model dry suit, it is worth it. You'll be drier, much drier, because Gore-Tex breaths. Coated nylon is waterproof, but you get damp/wet from your own perspiration. Hardly anyone is buying coated nylon suits anymore, especially if they've tried a Gore-Tex suit. So a Gore-Tex suit also holds it's resale value better if you ever want to sell it. How did you get them in there? We really want to know. It is very helpful to know what the stain is when attempting to remove it. We use a variety of products depending on the type of stain. Citrus based stain removers work well on chewing gum and greasy stains. Many commercial products found in your supermarket work very well. No, this is a myth! Salt molecules are far too large to fit into the tiny holes in the GORE-TEX? membrane. If you don't wash all the saltwater off your garment after a trip to the ocean the remaining salt on the face fabric will attract moisture (so rinse it off!), but GORE-TEX? will breathe when the face fabric is completely saturated (even underwater).
