Chocolate contains cocoa butter, which is a kind of fat. Fats are very susceptible to absorbing odors. For this reason, it is important to store chocolate away from spices, meat (in the case of being stored in the refrigerator), or other items that have strong odors. Moisture may dissolve the sugar on the surface of the chocolate, causing sugar bloom. For this reason, chocolate should be stored in an area of low humidity, if at all possible.

Ideally, tobacco should be left in its original sealed tin, and stored in a cool, dry place. It's important to realize that storage in plastic bags and the like, while allowing the tobacco to "meld," will prevent the true aging process. Plastic bags are permeable to small molecules. (Water, while not a very large molecule, is polarized, and has a hard time penetrating the barrier formed by the plastic.

Leave rest of peat in the tube. Seal opened end as much as possible to avoid drying. Store in cool and dry place for no more then 1 month.

Chocolate melts best at temperatures between 104°F and 113°F (40° and 45°C). Never melt chocolate directly over a heat source. Use indirect heat such as a hot water bath so that the chocolate reaches a uniform temperature of 104°F to 113°F. This is the perfect temperature to begin tempering or recrystallization.

Chocolates should be stored out of direct sunlight in a cool environment below 68° F. A wine cellar is ideal.

You want to get them into some kind of air tight container. Glass jars are the ideal storage container. You can also add to the life of your spices by storing them in the refrigerator. The only problem with this is out of sight, out of mind. The worst place to keep your spices is above the stove because the heat from the oven will destroy the essential oils in the spices.

When stored at 0 degrees in the freezer, either shelled meats or inshell pecans will maintain quality for two years. Under refrigeration, pecans should maintain their quality for several months. Storing pecans at room temperature is not recommended. Shelled pecans do not have to be thawed before use in recipes.

Use a breathable bag to prevent mildew and avoid plastic ones that trap moisture and do not offer any breathability for the comforter.

Just wrap them in tissue like the rest of your ornaments to keep them from rubbing and scratching each other.

Our coffee is vacuum packed immediately after roasting and grinding so that you get the freshest coffee possible. Our special one-way valve bag releases the natural gases produced by roasting. Unopened, this coffee will stay fresh for one year. Once opened, coffee should be consumed within a week for optimal taste and freshness. Remember that the natural enemies of coffee are air, moisture and heat. So always store your coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

I at least double-bag mine in the large freezer bags. I use both ziploc and twist-tie. I then store the bags in a sealable plastic Rubbermaid trunk. . Keep the air out, keep them cool (cooler roomtemp is fine), but most importantly KEEP THEM DRY. Some people store in the fridge, but most of the collective experience in the newsgroups (including my own) dictates that grains will keep for at least a year when properly stored in a dry place at cool room temp.

Cool cookies thoroughly before storing them. In dry weather, store crisp cookies in a container with a loose-fitting lid. If the weather is humid, use a container that closes tightly.

long as the gasoline is kept in a tightly sealed container, the storage is indefinite. These gasolines contain olefinic hydroccarbons in negligible concentrations, thus their tendency to form gums and varnishes is negligible. The gasoline will not separate as its components are solvents of each other. Also, don't expose the fuel to direct sunlight as the ultraviolet rays will oxidize the lead.

The best way to store the pralines is in an airtight container. Aunt Sally's does not use preservatives in our pralines. For optimum flavor we suggest that the pralines are enjoyed within the first three weeks.

Please remember to keep your fragrance away from the window, or heat so that the ingredients are not altered. The best place it to store the fragrance is in the original box and in a cool dry area.

If you don't store your perfume in the proper place, it'll go off, or deteriorate and lose its scent, no matter how expensive it is. All perfumes are affected by light, heat, and air, so you need to find a place that's not affected by any of these elements. It's very tempting, with all the beautiful and fancy new perfume bottles the designers are coming out with these days, to display them in a prominent place. After all, you paid good money for them, and you want to show them off.

Keep pumpkins in a cooler or a refrigerator if at all possible. Kept properly, they should last a week or more, depending on climate. Be sure the carved portions are covered with plastic wrap to keep them crisp. If the pumpkin has a lid, leave it off the pumpkin to allow air to circulate inside. This helps reduce mold. If pumpkins are stored at room temperature, they will probably only last 1 to 2 days.

Once you've opened the packet you need to keep them in an airtight container. Glass jars (re-cycle old chutney, mustard etc jars) are ideal as long as they are clean and dry. Do NOT keep your spices in the light - a cupboard or drawer is fine. Also store your spices away from all sources of heat - cooker, sunlight, radiator etc. Fenugreek seeds are NOT a good substitute for leaves. Think of the difference in flavour between fresh coriander (cilantro) and coriander seed.

Saffron should be store in an airtight container and kept away from bright light and moisture. Bright light such as sunlight will bleach the color of the saffron. That is why when the Crocus flower blooms, the flower has to be picked at dawn (Sahar) before the sun shines on it.
