This is very difficult, if not impossible to achieve. As ticks are very susceptible to desiccation, removing trees and shrubs will increase the amount of light to the ground, thereby decreasing the humidity levels and making conditions unfavourable for tick survival. Often this involves considerable environmental destruction and is not advisable.

Once ticks infest a home, it can take several weeks to get the problem under control. Even if you're consistently using a tick control product on your pet, you may see ticks from time to time. It's very easy for pets to pick up ticks from infested areas indoors, as well as outdoor environments that we cannot control. Bluebirds are really grassland birds. It is difficult to attract them to urban or heavily wooded property. Most bluebirds prefer open fields with one or two large oak trees, pastures, vineyards, old orchards or large mowed yards with selected medium-sized trees for nest guarding. Nest boxes should be placed out in the open on fence posts or metal poles not nestled into groves of trees. Bluebirds are primarily insect eaters.

Oh, don't get us started! Backyard breeders are, in some ways, worse than puppy mills. It is a term used for an individual who breeds animals and sells them out of their home when they lack the ability and/or knowledge to do so safely. The backyard breeder doesn't know what they're doing, does not provide the proper health care for their puppies and often treats their puppies as merchandise (showing them no affection or regard).

We recommend that ticks be killed with Preventic Collars,Frontline, Tick Dip or Tick Spray. Check with the package insert for information regarding which products can be used together and age requirements. It is also important to treat the premise on a monthly basis. Removing ticks from pets should be done with tweezers since ticks carry diseases that can be spread to humans.
