How can I do collision detection with OpenGL?
Forum FAQ - GameDev.Net Discussion ForumsYou have to write your own. OpenGL is a graphics library, it doesn't do collision detection. Neither does it do audio, wash dishes, unblock drains, or remove stubborn stains from carpets. As such, questions relating to collision detection should be asked in Math and Physics.
How can I perform collision detection with OpenGL?
OpenGL FAQ / 24 MiscellaneousOpenGL contains no direct support for collision detection. Your application needs to perform this operation itself. OpenGL can be used to evaluate potential collisions the same way it can evaluate ray intersections (i.e., the scene is rendered from the object's point of view, looking in the direction of motion, with an orthographic projection and a field-of-view restricted to the object's bounding rectangle.) Visible primitives are potential collision candidates. See similar questions...
What is the difference between Simple and Normal Collision detection?
Warblade - the classic arcade shoot'em up game! Home of Warb...The simple collision detection is based on overlapping rectangles. Each object (An alien, a bullet or a bonus icon) has a rectangle that gfx of the object is inside. If two object's rectangles are overlapping (one of them is inside the other one) the collision state is set to true. The advanced collision detection is based on overlapping pixels and the simple detection. If the simple detection is true, it will start testing if any pixels in the two objects is overlapping. I have some objects but collision detection is not working on them. What is wrong?
Crystal Space 1.3.0: B. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)One of the most common errors is to scale an object using the transform in the movable. Unfortunatelly various subsystems in Crystal Space (like collision detection and visibility culling) don't work on scaled objects. If you want to scale your object you should do it with HardTransform or <hardmove> instead. Note that for some types of mesh objects (like 3D sprites) you must do this on the factory. How will DOOM 3 be handling the Per-Poly collision detection?
Planet Doom - Movies, Maps, News, Resurrection of Evil, Chea...The Per Poly hit detection gives great feed back on where someone is hit it removes the square bony boxes used in the past. It helps make things more believable and adds to a richer environment. When something is shot, the marks will appear exactly where the object would have been hit. No, as far as we know they are not going to be working on a Doom 3 expansion pack. Their next game is going to be something completely new that they have never worked on before. What is OpenGL?
OpenGL FAQs - WikiFAQ - Answers to Frequently Asked Question...OpenGL(R) is the software interface for graphics hardware that allows graphics programmers to produce high-quality color images of 3D objects. OpenGL is a rendering only, vendor neutral API providing 2D and 3D graphics functions, including modelling, transformations, color, lighting, smooth shading, as well as advanced features like texture mapping, NURBS, fog, alpha blending and motion blur. OpenGL works in both immediate and retained (display list) graphics modes. See similar questions...

How many levels of detection does the RadDetect have?
NBC, Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Preparedness, Info Pag...detection levels - Beeping and flashing of the auto-alert occurs at 256 varying rates of speed (similar to a Geiger counter or metal detector). This level of instant preciseness makes the directional feature very easy to use. Watch Demo video #1. PLUS - Pressing the gray diagnostic button allows for additional instant analysis of exposure level (low - mid - high). See question #26 for more info on the gray diagnostic button. What does the .gl or .GL file format have to do with OpenGL?
OpenGL FAQs - WikiFAQ - Answers to Frequently Asked Question...gl files have nothing to do with OpenGL, but are sometimes confused with it. .gl is a file format for images, which has no relationship to IRIS GL or OpenGL. See similar questions...
What does this mean for the future of OpenGL?
SGI - Developer Central Open Source | OpenGL® Sample Imp...OpenGL is extremely successful as the standard, cross-platform 3D graphics API today. Releasing the Sample Implementation is part of SGI's commitment to and support for OpenGL, and will help it move to new platforms as the computing industry and 3D graphics hardware evolve. This move strengthens OpenGL's future. See similar questions...
What part does the OpenGL ARB play?
SGI - Developer Central Open Source | OpenGL® Sample Imp...The OpenGL Architecture Review Board will continue to play the crucial role of defining the OpenGL Specification and controlling the evolution of the standard. The ARB's role is not changed by this announcement. See similar questions...
How does the camera work in OpenGL?
OpenGL FAQ / 8 Viewing and Camera Transforms, and Using gluL...far as OpenGL is concerned, there is no camera. More specifically, the camera is always located at the eye space coordinate (0., 0., 0.). To give the appearance of moving the camera, your OpenGL application must move the scene with the inverse of the camera transformation. See similar questions...
How does Collada FX integrate with OpenGL ES and OpenGL?
COLLADA FAQOpenGL and OpenGL ES use the OpenGL Shading Language to describe shaders. Vertex shader and fragment shaders are compiled as separate objects which then must be linked into a program. HLSL for Direct3D works at a similar low level. COLLADA FX provides a way to package up these shader objects, describe the full visual style and provide a simplified model for operating them. Specifically these shader effects (FX): Combines multiple shaders into a single file rather than having one or more "*. See similar questions...
I have been in a collision, now what?
Welcome to GorgeInjury.com! :: Questions and AnswersAssuming both drivers have followed the requirements of remaining at the scene, filing an accident report and then notifying their respective insurance carriers, you should get the medical attention you need immediately since a delay in treatment is used as an excuse by insurance companies to argue you were not hurt. Adjusters will be assigned by the insurance companies to settle vehicle damage claims, deal with your PIP medical payment issues and, later, to value your case for settlement. Does your Plantar Test have automatic detection?
IITC Life Science Mouse Blood Pressure and Rat Blood Pressur...No for obvious reasons that when working with live animals, they will move or flinch, flick and therefore with automatic detection there is the possibility of the system reading these natural movements as "reaction" versus movement, stop the test; causing a stop and reset by the investigator See similar questions...
Does Orbiter have crash detection?
orbiter faqOrbiter will detect contact when a ship lands or crashes on a planet surface. All other objects are currently not detected and will pass right through one another. The exception to this is in docking mode. In this mode you can dock at the assigned port. If you miss the port or come in too fast, your ship will pass right throug as if it isn't there. How does the motion detection work?
ipcctv-security.comThe general principle is by taking sequential pictures and then comparing differences. No difference means no movement. Depending on how much change there has been, the camera or associated software cad decide that there has been movement. There is sensitivity control to minimise false alarms, mask out areas that will always move etc. The process repeats with the latest picture being compared to the one before. See similar questions...
How does the OpenGL ARB operate logistically? When does the ARB have meetings?
SGI - OpenGL Frequently Asked QuestionsARB meetings are held once a quarter. The meetings rotate among sites hosted by the ARB members and other interested parties. To learn the date and place of the next OpenGL ARB meeting, watch the news group comp.graphics.opengl for a post announcing the next OpenGL ARB meeting, check the OpenGL Web site, or e-mail arb-secretary 'at' sgi.com and ask for the information. Meetings are run by a set of official bylaws. Minutes to the ARB meeting are posted on http://www.opengl.org See similar questions...
