This can happen if the "Setup" is not well parameterized. You probably selected the "Multi-System" or "NTSC" mode but your TV does not support these options. To update this parameter, go to "Setup" then "Setup Menu\Preferences\Type TV" and choose "PAL".

This is not an error. The image is coded interlaced and is usually used when transferring video to dvd. You can make it look nicer by filtering (deinterlacing) it. This is not currently implemented in Ogle. If the aspect isn't wrong it's supposed to be that way. Ogle gives you the max aspect of the image and sets the remaining parts to black. Watching a few videos before your first lesson will help you to visualize the overall process.
