You will play the race that you start out with all the way to 60, choose the one you think looks the coolest or fulfills any RP reasons you might have. Hybrid healers go really well with Warlocks, such as Shamans, Druids or Paladins. A Shadow spec'd Priest will also work well, however Mage's, with their extremely fast fighting style may not suit the best. This is mostly a matter of personal taste. Each race has pros and cons and the "best" race depends on individual play style. Pros: Good starting wisdom. Good faction with all "light" cities. Smallest experience penalty. Cons: Poor night vision but this is quickly overcome by spells. "Cookie cutter" race due to commonality. There are many divergent opinions. Ultimately, it is up to you, and don't let someone else bully you into playing something you don't want to play! I would recommend playing a grey-aura scout or a grey-aura priest if you're new to SK. Playing a scout allows you some independence and the ability to explore the huge outdoor world, as well as pick up pets and herbs to help you along the way.
