Rubber is the sap of trees found mostly in tropical climates. The sap is altered by mixtures of carbon (why it's black) and mineral oils and various fillers. Polyurethane is completely chemical or man-made. Because rubber is a biodegradable product it is affected by ozone and will over time dry rot and degrade, while urethane will keep going and going. Urethane bushings will increase the performance handling characteristics of your vehicle. Urethane is a firmer material then rubber.

It depends on the product. Some O.E.M. hubcaps seem to be designed to fail. Clips on many minivan hubcaps are extremely weak and tend to break after the hubcap has been removed a few times. No, latex product is not the same as urethane or furniture foam. Urethane is a plastic. It doesn't have the longevity and resiliency of rubber. They don't make rubber bands or tires out of urethane (plastic), because urethane can't stretch and return to shape like rubber. In short, when worked, they lose resiliency and shape. The just won't give you the same comfort a year from now that they do in the showroom.
