Briefly, all students need 240 credits to graduate from high school which translates to 6 classes per semester for 4 years. Students are required to take four classes with OPIS in order to be enrolled in the program. The remaining two classes (10 credits) can be completed with OPIS, at a community college (Pierce, Moorpark, etc...), taking online classes, at adult school, or in many other ways.

Of all the questions, this is the one for which we wish we had a definitive answer, but unfortunately, we do not. There are a portion of children and adults with Bipolar who do not respond to medication or environmental interventions enough to live the life they were expecting before the onset of symptoms or diagnosis. Many of these children do respond enough to be better, if not well. There is no cure yet for Bipolar, but most everyone can be helped to some degree.

The Warrant Officer Candidate School Enlistment Option is used to allow Prior Service Non commissioned officers, with the minimum DA WO MOS Proponency requirements, to become a warrant officer in the ARNG. This option offers the opportunity for separating active duty Non-commissioned Officers to apply for entrance into the ARNG Warrant Officer Education System (WOES). Enlisted status within the ARNG is required for WOES application submission.

You will not have to pay back any reenlisted bonuses you have collected prior to accepting appointment as a warrant officer. You will, however, forfeit any unpaid bonus. For example, if you collected your entire bonus in a lump sum payment prior to accepting appointment you will keep the entire bonus. With the reauthorization of IDEA by the federal government in 2004, Congress allowed for a new option called "Response to Intervention" (RTI). That is, education teams will be allowed to use a series of research-based intervention attempts to establish that a student meets eligibility criteria. We are not able to use RTI quite yet but hope to be using this method of diagnosing learning disabilities in the future.

The Phoenix Academy issues diplomas to those who qualify. Students can earn a diploma from the Phoenix Academy or from their home high school if it is a Toledo Public Schools high school.Students can participate in either graduation as long as graduation requirements are met and prior approval is obtained. Participation in the graduation ceremony and awarding of diplomas must be certified by the Phoenix Academy counselor.

Federal Law mandates, that a child be placed in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). The district will provide a full continuum of services and a range of placement options. The first option that needs to be considered is placement in their regular education classroom in their home school with accommodations.

While the family will be divided in appropriate sections of the training (for example mom and dad will have the opportunity to participate in a parenting training module), and while there will be free time when family members can choose individual activities, it is our goal to keep the family together through significant parts of each day.
