What causes a very light period on the pills?

Answers and Articles about Birth control pills and abnormal ...
I am 26, married, and have been on birth control pills for about 5 years. My periods have always been regular, almost to the hour every month. Last period was almost non-existent, a few spots on Day 1, then nothing. Had same amount of spotting afterwards, about 2 1/2 weeks into cycle. Did home preg test immediately after non-existent period, before restarting b/c pills and it was negative. Next period is due this week, and I feel really weird.

Why do you have period bleeding when using birth control pills?

NoPeriod.com - FAQ
The birth control pill usually contains 2 hormones, a synthetic estrogen and synthetic progesterone. These outside hormones turn off the woman's ovaries so her ovaries do not make an egg and cause the mucus of the cervix to thicken to prevent sperm from entering the uterus. See similar questions...

Can you use ordinary birth control pills continuously to prevent having a period?

Birth control pill FAQ: Benefits, risks and choices - MayoCl...
It's possible to prevent your period with continuous use of any birth control pill. This means skipping the placebo pills and starting right away on a new pack. Some evidence suggests an advantage to this type of pill regimen. By continuously taking the pill, you prevent hormonal fluctuations that are responsible for bleeding, cramping, headaches and other discomforts associated with getting your period. However, you're at greater risk of breakthrough bleeding — bleeding between periods. See similar questions...

Massachusetts Emergency Contraception Network: Frequently As...
Your next period should come more or less on time, although it may be a few days early or a few days late. After taking emergency contraception, some women have their period early, and some women have irregular bleeding that is not really their period. The duration of the irregular bleeding is not predictable. You should have another, normal period within the next month. If you don't, you should take a pregnancy test just to make sure you're not pregnant. See similar questions...

What causes the pain with my period? What can I do about it?

FAQs | sexualityandu.ca - Your Link to Sexual Well-Being
Cramps with a woman's period are common, and are caused by chemicals called "prostaglandins" that are released as the uterine lining is shed. Prostaglandins cause the muscle of the uterus to tighten, causing little "contractions" which are often perceived by the woman as painful. Many women get mild cramps which are tolerable, and which can be treated by hot baths, hot water bottles or exercise, or by taking an over-the-counter medication such as ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin). All fluorescent lights require a ballast to function. Both magnetic and electronic fluorescent ballasts give off a slight humming noise; harmonics is the technical term. By design an electronic ballast has reduced harmonics and therefore the hum is less noticeable than when using a magnetic ballast. If the hum is louder than usual the ballast may need to be replaced. How many pills should I take?

Penis Enlargement and Enhancement Products FAQ and more
This varies from product to product depending on the ingredients, and the size of the supplement. Follow the manufacturer's directions. Don't assume that "more is better." Even though most formulations are safe, it's never wise to overdo dosages of the truly potent herbal ingredients. Although increasing dosage could become harmful, it usually results in product wastage as the excess supplement is excreted from the body unused. See similar questions...

What is a period?

NoPeriod.com - FAQ
A period is one name for the monthly bleeding or menstrual cycle of reproductive aged women. The period happens because pregnancy did not happen and the lining of the uterus, which got thick with blood to prepare for pregnancy, is lost because it is not needed. Because of the bleeding the lining becomes thin and needs to be repaired by the body. More hormones will make the lining thick to prepare again to become pregnant. The whole point of having periods is to be able to get pregnant. See similar questions...
