Before downloading the source code, you will need to create a java.net account if you don't already have one. Not yet... but I am working on making the softare public domain, and building a Mac OS X version which may be out in March 2005. The Simulator is not 100% bug free (especially when viewing Saturn very zoomed in or in certain geometries). Try again from a slightly different viewpoint or field of view. There is a bug list that gets worked on every couple of months.

The JDK itself contains a file called src.zip that contains the source code for the public classes in the java package. I'm in the process of setting up new track, but the start and finish of the track don't line up (by just a little). How should I make the ends meet? I don't think it is possible to adjust just the last curve. The way I do it is to have my car driver code print out the start and end coordinates in its setup routine. I then use that to determine how far I'm off, find a straight that is approximately equal to the direction I want and just adjust that straight.

When JClassLib (available through NetBeans) became available , it became the easiest thing to use! It would be nice to have additional readers , to scan not only Java Source code , but also Java Classes stored in Jars.

We found the question of installation so troublesome with mismatch of versions and users patially installing the software we bundle the complete java jvm and libraries (including J3D?) and in a subdirectory of our installation directory. No troubles since we did that. Topic Java3DFAQ .

Yes, but you are required to run the files provided with the benchmark if you are publishing results. As a general rule, modifying the source code is not allowed. Specific items (the load program, for example) can be modified to port the application to your environment. Areas where you are allowed to make changes are listed in the SPECjAppServer2004 Run and Reporting Rules. Any changes made must be disclosed in the submission file when submitting results.
