We derive our profits from selling student workbooks and certification cards at a fair price to our instructors. We do not make our money on initial instructor certification training courses. Answer: State law requires all licensed child care providers to complete 15 hours of course work, which includes CPR/First Aid (7 hours) and Health and Safety (8 hours). The CPR/First Aid classes for child care providers are usually offered together. The 8 hours of Health and Safety instruction must include specific topics such as Preventative Health Practices, Identification and Prevention of Child Abuse, Nutrition and Injury Prevention.

You can get adequate first aid training by taking the requisite courses for an American Red Cross advanced first aid certification. Contact your local chapter of the Red Cross for details. Hut users who frequently travel in the backcountry should consider training that goes beyond standard first aid. The Wilderness Medicine Institute is a good place to start if you're looking for such training. Also check your local college.

The minimum acceptable first-aid certification is the Standard First Aid certification issued by the American Red Cross. Alternate certifications are acceptable. All courses offered stress the importance of barrier devices and other protective equipment.

The majority of the families prefer a nanny to be CPR/First Aid certified. If you are not, you may want to discuss the option of becoming certified before or after you arrive on the job.

Yes, at a minimum, all of our staff members are certified in First Aid and CPR. In addition, all are trained in emergency response procedures and carry 2-way radios and operable cellular or satellite phones in case of emergencies.

The EMS Safety Services courses are designed to stand on their own. This flexibility allows our instructors to teach each as a totally separate class. Each class is divided into 4-hour blocks.
