When a student enters Scenic Land, he or she is tested to determine present levels of performance (what she knows well, and what skills may be missing from past learning). We then slightly back up the curriculum to ensure success right away, and then move forward at a "just under frustration" pace.

Small things like always using the same barber, for example, and expecting that he will send along anyone who's a prospective student is a good option. (If he doesn't, well then...change barbers!) No. Persons colonized with MRSA, i.e., the staph is living on the skin but not causing any problem, do not need to be excluded. If a student has a wound (whether or not it is known to be MRSA) it should be covered with a bandage and taped on all four sides to contain any drainage. If the wound is severe enough that the bandage does not contain the drainage, then consideration should be given to exclusion until the drainage can be contained.
