Expert groomers travel on the road with the hitch. They are on the road at least 10 months every year. When necessary, one handler has night duty to provide round-the-clock care for the horses, ensuring their safety and comfort.

Our clients generally do not travel during the crowded July and August (except the case of mountains resorts, interesting and peculiar events or quiet and uncrowded localities): that is due to the fact that we want to guarantee them a different kind of holidays. If you opt for a free proposal or if you belong to a private group, obviously the dates will be chosen by you but they are linked to the compatibility of the tour program.

A typical TrekAmerica group consists of people from all over the world, not just au pairs. During lodge safaris, you will be accompanied by a trained wildlife guide. Our guides have at least seven years of experience on safari and have taken several language and wildlife courses. If you choose an adventure camping safari, you will also travel with a Duma cook who will prepare all of your delicious meals while in the bush. As with any Duma-arranged trip, we will only combine tourist groups at the client's request. You can expect a private vehicle with your very own Duma guide.

A major theme for all of my travels is photography. I have been getting more and more serious about travel photography over the years, and during this trip, photography will be playing an even greater roll than ever. I am carrying about 20 pounds of camera gear! During my first leg alone, I've shot about 2500 slides. By the time I'm done, I'll probably have taken upwards of 7500 slides, not counting the digital shots I take for this site. Writing travel stories is also a major theme.

ARTA guests are incredible; if it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t have nearly as much fun. A lot of them were introduced to rafting by their parents on ARTA trips over 30 years ago and are now bringing their own kids, (which is fun and reassuring), others heard about us from satisfied guests, and still others just did a Google search and liked our website.

We signed up with a mail forwarding service in Oregon. The idea was that every few weeks we would call or email the proprietor, and she would bundle up the mail that wasn't junk, package it, and send it by U.S. mail to a designated address. That works fine when we're in an English speaking first world country (such as New Zealand). Most of the countries we are visiting, however, do not interface well with the U.S. Postal Service, and mail can take six weeks, if it gets there at all.
