Users' home directories are backed up fully five times a year (about January 6, March 21, May 31, August 16, and October 21) and an incremental backup is performed at 4 a.m. every day except Wednesday. If your file existed at the time one of these backups was performed, it can probably be restored. On the other hand, if you created and then deleted the file, or a new version of the file, between backups, it's gone forever.

If you deleted the file in the Recycle Bin or emptied the Recycle Bin, refer to File System Issues for more information. If your file cannot be found during find operation, the deleted file/directory may be still on disk but is no longer referenced by an existing folder. In this case you will need to run the 'Find lost data' search. In the case this process does not find your file you may need to run the 'Full scan/ find format' search. See the User Guide for more information.

Yes. On most Netware servers deleted files are kept for at least 8 days before they are purged. Note that it is only deleted files that are kept. If you overwrite a file you will not be able to recover this file using the method below. To salvage(un-delete) a file in your personal directory open up Windows Explorer and go to the U: drive and then the first letter of your last name. If you deleted files in a sub-directory, navigate to the directory containing that sub-directory.

Log into your online OWA account. Click the Options button on the left side column. Scroll down and look for Recover Deleted Items. Click on the View button. A window dialog box will appear. Search for your deleted email message and move it to Deleted Items box. NOTE: Emails in the Recover Deleted Items space will be available for only 15 days. After 15 days all emails will be permanently deleted from the server.

The main scenario here is deleting a file (by mistake or intentionally) outside of Team Foundation and then trying the get that file back from source control. If the file version has not changed the server thinks the user already has the file and does not copy it over. This is because the server keeps a list of files that the user already has and when activities are made outside of source control this list becomes out of date.

Backups are performed nightly after hours. In order for your file to have been backed up, it must have existed at least over night so it was saved to tape. If this was the case, email clue@iastate.edu, and give us the full path to the file that you deleted, and the time that you deleted it so we can grab the latest version.
