The first thing you do is to log feedback, pointing out that you are one of thousands of thousands of users who have problems with this, because Apple does not provide proper feedback in the user interface. Only some fonts contain italic (or oblique) typefaces. A program like MS Word tries to italicize those fonts anyhow, and the result is often not that pretty: In the picture from Microsoft Word 2004 above, the font Baskerville has an italic typeface. The font Baskerville Old Face does not.

Experience has taught me to recommend you not to use formatting to produce italics, either when sending your profile to me, or posting to the list. We hope to make a prototype of a Bold weight (and a few others, including italic) available soon, but it will only cover basic Latin glyphs at first. Once we are confident that the basic design is solid, we will begin to design the bold versions of the other hundreds of glyphs. Be patient, though, as Gentium has lots of glyphs! There is a definite need for a sans-serif font that shares some of Gentium's strengths — high readability, economy of space, etc.

Here, we would agree with Autism Street and others who say that the peer review process is valuable and that many non-peer reviewed journals are not reputable. We also think this standard applies to blogsites. Being peer-reviewed gives some assurance of the quality of the information. Sometimes poor "researchers" repeatedly publish their "science" in non-peer reviewed journal outlets. When this happens, it is a red-flag.

This is TextAloud's more advanced operating mode. Make sure the "Multi" button on the tool bar (top left) is highlighted. On the right side of the screen, make sure "Watch clipboard" and "Prompt to copy from clipboard" are checked.
