Color enhancements are often added to Infrared Satellite images to more clearly distinguish temperatures of various features. While the colors, and intervals of the enhancements may vary, the temperature values of each color may be determined from the registration bar included with the images.

The infrared satellite imagery on our web site is "enhanced", which means that the image is modified using a color scheme in order to bring out details in the cloud patterns. The various colors are determined by the amount of energy, translated into temperature, that the satellite is sensing. The image below represents the enhancement curve that is used in all of the satellite imagery on our site.

White - unpowered items that can't mass-lock the in-system drive (jumpdrive). Green/Yellow - navigation buoys. Yellow - powered craft. Red - powered craft identified as hostile. Green - space stations. Green/Red - thargoids. Purple - police. Blue/Red - police on intercept. Red/Yellow - active mine (about to detonate). Blue/Cyan - witchspace wormhole.

Click on the Options tab and check the "Enable infrared communication" checkbox; click on the OK button. Double click on the small red IR icon (located in the lower right hand corner next to the clock), and click on the Options tab.

Windows contains an incomplete version of IRComm. You may need a driver from the sourceforge project IrCOMM2k [SF project page] which has a IRComm driver for Windows 2000 and XP.

Most consumer digital camera CCD's allow infrared or near infrared light(NIR) to pass through the lens because the hot mirror (a filter for removing Infrared Light)is not of high grade quality,so equipped with a in-expensive filter such as the Hoya R72 or the Wratten 89b you can take dramatic shots using non-visible light from the sun or other light sources. A quick and easy test to find out if your camera is even remotely capable of infrared photography is the "Remote test".

The image enhancement tool balances light in images with non-uniform lighting. This tool is particularly useful in scenes with very bright areas and dark areas with subjects of interest to the user. A locally adaptive histogram equalization algorithm is used. An example is shown below:

The map shows the number of spam messages sent by known spam IPs per country. The colors are represented by a heat map (i.e. blue means low and yellow means high).

A little, in much the same way as modern camcorders. The CCD is sensitive to infrared, but it has a filter in place that does a pretty good job of masking it. While the camera will show bright direct infrared sources (like LEDs) as bright white, IR lighting doesn't work very well as scene illumination.

While there are specific portions of the Earth that have been imaged with higher detail, this is the most detailed image of the entire world in existence.

What: The remote-sensing source was NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer, (MODIS), combined with observations of Antarctica made by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s AVHRR sensor—the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer. Topographic shading is based upon GTOPO 30 elevation dataset compiled by U.S. Geological Survey’s EROS Data Center.

All the normal IR functions (keyboard emulation, sending a file to the host, the Get Utility) should work as usual. What will not work is trying to download the Applet or Topic Dictionaries through the IR mode. This needs to be done with a standard cable connection (USB or serial cable).

Due to the fact that your monitor and printer use different technologies to represent colors, your printed colors cannot exactly match the colors you see on your monitor screen. Check the ink setting in the printer driver and make sure it is set to Color, not Black. Make sure the Media Type setting matches the paper or media loaded. Let the printer driver automatically select other settings for the best quality.

These are two different wavelengths of infrared radiation. IR 3.9 µm images are useful for seeing fog at night, differentiating between different types of clouds, measuring the temperature of the surface of the sea, and many other uses. Some of the uses of IR 10.7 µm images include identifing severe weather as well as areas of heavy rainfall.

Shellfish enhancement is a management tool used by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to increase opportunities for recreational harvest on certain public beaches by adding to the clam and oyster resource which occurs naturally. Our enhancement technique is to routinely "seed" suitable beaches with juvenile clam and oysters.

If the goal of the surgery was not achieved with the initial LASIK procedure, we may want to fine tune your vision with another surgery called an enhancement. The enhancement is very similar to the first surgery; however, the microkeratome that helps to create the flap initially is not used. Instead, the flap is surgically lifted with a different instrument following the original incision line. The enhancement procedure is typically done no sooner than three months after the initial procedure.

This imagery is based on color infrared aerial photography with red tones indicating vegetation vigor. A digital orthoimagery is a raster image of remotely sensed data in which displacement in the image due to sensor orientation and terrain relief have been removed. Digital orthophotos combine the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map.
