Yes, the PTC sets the limit based upon a formula of 1 taxicab for every 1900 inhabitants. The number is currently set at 613 taxicabs. This number is adjusted each year based upon a census update. The theory of limiting the number is based upon the thought that there should be enough taxicabs to serve the public adequately but not so many as to cause the taxicab drivers to operate at a loss.

You must complete an application for a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for the particular service you wish to perform, i.e. taxicab, limousine, van, handicab, BLS ambulance, wrecker.

Patients are able to have a total of 2 hip injections, 6 months apart from each other and 3 months prior to having a hip replacement. We limit the number of injections, because after the initial 2, studies have shown an increased risk of infection after total hip replacement. We have found that Synvisc works best on patients who still have some level of cartilage. If you still have cartilage, then you may be a candidate.

If you bring a customer to Hillsborough County and stay with the customer while they are here and then you return them to your county, you do not have to be licensed by the PTC. If you drop them off, leave and then come back at a later time or date, you must be licensed by the PTC. For example, if you bring someone to a football game, concert or restaurant and stay to return your customer, you do not have to be licensed.

The Clerk's Office receives the initial paperwork from the Hillsborough County Jail after a felony arrest.
