We do not recommend spraying foam into areas that you cannot actually see. Foam expands in every direction. FOAM DOES NOT EXPAND IN THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE. Expanding foam may bow, buckle or burst the area. Drilling (or sawing) of neodymium magnets is absolutely not recommended. First of all, the material is brittle and fragile. Secondly, drilling causes combustible dust and, thirdly, the heat caused by the drill can possibly demagnetise the material. Smallest achievable hole size (and largest achievable hole size) is dependent on the material, material thickness and laser used. It is possible to drill 1 micron holes through thin material at aspect ratios of up to 100 to 1. We recommend the hole be a factory supplied option. What we do is actually disassemble the valve, indicate the ball dead center on 1 side, drill deburr, reassemble and then test the valve. The wood at the center of the piece has almost a  “Zero” velocity across the tip of the tool, and that can make it difficult to turn. Sometimes this is a problem, and sometimes it isn’t. Spray foam will burn for the first 48 hours during the off gassing or curing period. Once it is cured it self extinguishes. The problem is it is a plastic and it will melt and if spray foam is consumed in a burning fire it gives off toxic fumes this is the reason for the required 15 minute burn barrier.
