There is no "best" race. My preference is Troll or Ogre. There is a worst race however, and that worst race is Erudite. Why? "Hmmmm... which race can be a Shadow Knight that has the most draw backs and the least advantages? A-ha! Erudite."

This is mostly a matter of personal taste. Each race has pros and cons and the "best" race depends on individual play style. Pros: Good starting wisdom. Good faction with all "light" cities. Smallest experience penalty. Cons: Poor night vision but this is quickly overcome by spells. "Cookie cutter" race due to commonality. Pros: Natural Regen helps reduce downtime for all levels and helps when cannibalizing after level 24. Has 1 AC bonus per level.

Urk. Cyclones equipped with shadow cloaking devices seem a little overpowered, even to me. Most cyclones already have a cloaking system of sorts in the fact that they can use alternate sources of power instead of Protoculture when necessary. Plus there's the fact that the RPG makes enough concessions to Cyclone pilots already (heavy armaments and heavier armor) and the mecha doesn't need any more power-boosting.

As the levels increase equipment effects swamp racial attributes, you couldn't tell a well-equipped ratonga from a well-equipped high elf, unless of course you had a sense of smell and / or a snootiness detector.
