CLASS A . . . allows you to operate vehicles which tow trailers or other vehicles with a GVWR over 10,000 pounds. A Class "A" license also allows you to operate Class B and C vehicles. A Religious Exemption form (DHEC form 1126) can be obtained by requesting a form in person from any county public health department. Contact numbers for countypublic health departments can be found at http://www.scdhec.gov/health/county.htm. Forms cannot be e-mailed or mailed. Follow the instructions on the form. This is the mechanism used to insure the residual market from 1974 until 1999. In 1974, the General Assembly passed a law requiring insurance companies to write anyone who wanted insurance who had a valid driver's license and paid the premiums. The Reinsurance Facility provided a mechanism where insurance companies could place individuals they would not have written had they had a choice.
